Pointing to French colonial abuses doesn't make Russian involvement beneficial.
France's history in Burkina Faso is exploitative.
But Russia isn't supporting the country out of goodwill.
The Kremlin's strategy in Africa(via Wagner) or its successors typically involves military help for mining rights, political influence, and dodgy deals that drain resources rather than build economies.
Reports from multiple African states show increased repression, human rights abuses.
And replacing one external power with another doesn't equal independence.
Far from it, all it achieves is to shift dependency.
Claiming Russia isn't harming the economy is naive in the extreme.
