Do you really think that a conservative pope would revolutionize the Church? That it's enough to hate homosexuals to stop corruption and depravity among clergy? Vatican has always been corrupted. We should thank God they no longer hold Borgia styled orgies there.

To an average believer, the choice of the pope isn't all that important. I mean I haven't noticed any radical changes in the Church during conservative Benedict or liberal Francis. The hierarchy here blocked all the liberal reforms introduced by the pope Francis. Likewise, the cardinals blocked any substantial reforms that Benedict wanted to introduce. Perhaps, this is why he resigned. The pope no longer seems to have any considerable power.

On the other hand, our modern society is preoccupied with pedophilia to the point of pathological obsession.
It became a modern Boogeyman. I don't deny the existence of psychopathic and perverted cuckoos preying on children but the problem is blown out of proportion by the media and its popping-up-like-mushrooms-after-the-rain newly made celebrities who suddenly recall, after 40 or 50 years, that they were molested as children by their local priest, teacher, doctor, parent or whoever. Michelle remembers and gets her five minutes of TV or internet fame thanks to being sexed by the devil. That and a handsome paycheck if lucky enough.

Well said, and on the last part, I think this obsession is in a large part fostered by those that perpetrate it, to make it seem common place , when it's not, and therefore an attempt to make it 'normal,' to the rest of us.  This unfortunately hinders other actual normal and extremely important activities like education, child raising, and social interaction , like in times of Witch Hunts, or extreme political stress like civil war, it makes everyone the potential enemy which obviously is not how a society can function . Perhaps it's on purpose to further fragmentation.

In regards to the first part, that is fascinating about the local Polish clergy not implementing papal changes, edicts and dictums. I thought it was de rigeur in the Church as a hierarchy to have to do that.
Perhaps we will look at some schism from Rome, for 'Conservative Catholics' versus 'Progressive/Liberal Catholics.'  Perhaps these have already been quelled and I know nothing.
After all, I am a heathen who refused to attend my Confirmation as it felt wrong to me.

If he gave his speech from the U.S. and used English first, then Latin, then Spanish would you expect Catholic Italians, Catholic Germans etc. to be offended because he did not use their languages? No you would not.

Of course it's the message you and others don't like, but it's Jesus' message being delivered.

To be fair it is odd to me, that he did not use his mother tongue.  I think it was a pointed decision against the country itself . But I could of course be wrong.

When in Rome do as the Romans do...speak the language. His speech was translated into English at the time, so English was included. He also communicates in English on X, but having lived in Peru for 40 years, is English really his first language now?

Sorry I had no time to read the entire thread, but I will point out to some fact about this pope, he is half hispanic and against Trump agenda, as per his comment in social media.

I do not believe in orginized religion, I do not believe in incarnated god men in earth like the pope.

He was chosen because while Trump is controvertial about immigration, he also is giving religion a second change to revival.

The Catholic church is just trying to reach the American worshipers and get their roots a bit more stronger in the US and also more money in their coffers.
So now the idea of the Black pope, from Nostradamus fame, is being tossed around for Prevost.
White smoke, Black pope? Genealogist says Leo XIV has Louisiana African roots | National Catholic Reporter
Quote:Leo XIV is not known to have publicly commented having African ancestry, which is part of a mixed heritage that also includes French, Italian and Spanish roots. According to the U.S. Census, Prevost's mother, the late Mildred Martinez, was the mixed-race daughter of Black property owners, the Haitian-born Joseph Martinez and New Orleans native Louise Baquié, a Creole.

As such, Leo XIV could be considered the first Black pope in the history of the Catholic Church, though it is unclear how he identifies racially.

So we'll ignore Pope Victor the 1st, Miltiades, or Gelasius since they were all born in Africa. Hey what do I know.
The Black Pope has to be a Jesuit. Leo went to Villinova which is Order of St. Augustine.

Gonzaga, Xavier, Marquette, Santa Clara, and Loyola University Chicago, with Sister Jean, those are your Black Pope schools.

Had Tagle been elected "The First Asian Pope" then it be closer to a Black Pope scenario, because he is Jesuit.

I'm talking about the prophecy from Nostradamus about the three final Popes. The Foreign Pope (could be Benedict the 16th), the Elder Pope (could be Francis), and the last Pope being the Black Pope (could this be Leo the 14th given his hidden African heritage)?
Got it.  I have always thought the that could have been about the popes in his time. Like starting with Adrian XI in 1522, there are a lot of former popes, and there have been a few instances in which an old one followed a foreign one to set up a possible black one.  Not many though.

Jonn-Paul II was the FIRST non-italian pope since the one in Nostradamus' time.  And he was followed by Benedict XVI (elected at 79) making Francis, a Jesuit, The most fitting for The Black Pope title.

Maybe Nostradamus' bowl of divination water didn't go ahead far enough and he missed the Green Pope that follows The Black Pope?

Quote:During a seminar in Rome dedicated to "addressing the problems of the environmental crisis," Leo said it was time to move "from words to action" on the environmental crisis.
He praised efforts by the Vatican to reduce its carbon footprint by installing solar panels and switching to electric vehicles.

The conference brought cardinals together to discuss the negative impacts climate change imposes on the most vulnerable populations around the world.

He also stressed at the time the need for the Catholic Church's involvement in the climate fight is based on the Social Doctrine of the Church -- a fundamental framework of social teachings. Humans must engage in a "relationship of reciprocity" with the environmental, rather than "tyrannical," Leo said.

Some are hopeful he will be the rainbow pope (with cautious optimism).

So Leo XIV could still fracture the church through reform, and Francis could be the last Pope of a unified Catholic Church, which just adds a context. Like saying "the end of the world as we know it."

Personally, I think Nostradamus is so vague you can apply him anywhere you want.

That said, for as much as Francis fit the Black Pope (Last Pope) Prophecy, The Third Antichrist is about to start a nuclear war, which seems the more pressing ambiguous  prophecy.
