Meditation to the path of becoming one with the universe is the same as a near death experience and not a fleeting buzz as it stays with you

The more you meditate and also conduct rituals in the proper 'no mind' state you refine your vibrations to a higher frequency and tolerance.
We all bounce up and down as we are only human beings, but our baseline state improves.
Now pass the cheese.

I always felt, (not that I think that means much,) that meditation is not something you actually "learn."

It seems to be a state you experience, and you can reach it with greater ease by managing your thoughts...

It takes intent and effort to learn not be "interrupted" by the narrative stream, the occurrence of spontaneous alertness.
I'm no expert, but for me it became a trial of learning not to give up because "I can't focus."
There is no focus...

Thoughts happen... just don't 'grow' them... let them pass uncommented...

That helped me a bit.

It also helped me to identify thoughts that I really want to be "turned off," whatever that might mean...

Lot's of people come very close to meditation and don't recognize that's is what they are doing...  prayers, mantras, dancing singing, jogging, ... and more.
Even focus attention work can get you there... knitting, drawing, etc.  You just have to let it happen... if you can.

That is very true things you say there, some just don't like hearing it. Duel use mental processes or something I guess, all down to intent.

There is a technique for turning off thought.  You need to first start recognising thought by practising focus, breathing to a pattern and counting. Every time thoughts rise acknowledge it and go back to focusing on breathing. Takes allot of practise and is boring.  Helps to fall asleep, good for practise.

It won't work alone but will give you super focus. Next you need to control the process that makes the thoughts come up. You do this with visualisation and symbolism, categorise thoughts and placing them in a box with symbols. You need to practise motion also by visualising an egg of energy around you, or a magnetic field that spins. Draw the energy up through your spine. A more advanced technique is to draw energy from the top and bottom and making it meet at the heart. Imagery needs to be rich and complicated. You need to do this with the exercise above at the same time.

This is all no good as is because you will just fall asleep so you need to start visualising guardian entities. You need to create the guardian entities through practise also, ritual is really best, make friends, give them food/feed them.  They need agency and can catch stray thoughts. Very useful.

Synesthesia will become required at this stage, you will need to combine senses. You can feel sight for instance. Start by feeling the energy you where visualising.

It is also important to attach breathing to energy, use the above techniques to that. Visualise the energy exchange that happens with breathing both within in out you. Breath flows in from and out to where?

Getting closer you will also have to align with the earth. Call on the elements, align yourself to the cardinal directions and elements that is around you. You need to load these up with symbolism also, all the primordial properties. You need to stack some watch towers on those after, guardians for what is underneath.

You should be able to complete all this in 13min or so and then you can bring forth your intent. It works better with drawing the elements and guardians out in a pattern and writing the symbolism down that you created. Burn it and focus on the transmutation of the energy, breathe in the smoke.  This is good for synesthesia.

You really need to map things out. Here I was making an egg for something to hatch. Map and keys basically, sorry about the charcoal.

Each symbol is a book. This is very important otherwise your mind will wonder so you have to keep it occupied.

Quote:"Go to the ocean and float and roll in the waves".

Start small, just you and water and slowly add more details. Imagine you are floating in an ocean.

Maintain focus and remember the other practices. Remember to breathe and breathe energy. Gently roll in the waves and absorb energy. The goal is to gently roll relax and recharge, that is it. Aim for 15min.

If it is day, it is day. If it is night, what is the cycle of the moon. Make it detailed. The ocean under you is an abyss with leviathans circling, but you float serenely and perceive. Where you float is a liminal space, not in the ocean, not in the air not in the land.  The leviathans are just dwellers in the abyss.  You are floating on the waves where the energy is exchanged.

Energy exchange

Relax your muscle groups again. Breath in energy. Be comfortable. Look down at your feet and breathe in energy and slowly pull it up through your whole body into your head. First in three or four breaths, then on each one. Relax a bit and just feel good in this process. Follow where you breath goes you gently blow it out and it flows.

Very specifically relax in order your jaw, then eye lids, lips, forehead, tongue, eyes then cheeks and neck. This is an up down motion. Another wave, another cycle like all the other exercises. Remember the ocean. Waves will start going through face the moment your cheeks relaxed.

Channel the waves inwards. Two waves will start centered on your nose spreading out around your face, wrap this inwards in send it down into your body.  Remember the ocean. Let it roll around in your body all the way from your feet, feel the waves sloshing around.

Quote:Tense and relax every muscle group one at a time. Start with one foot, tense and relax. Feel the sensation, do the other foot. Move up to calves, then upper leg. Lower body, stomach, back, upper body. Arms, hands, neck, face and head.

You must do all of it and pause and pay attention to the sensation. The mind will wonder, this is normal.  Focus back on the exercise. Relax, take as long or move as quickly as you want to.

Why go through all this trouble? Because the mind wonders, one of the things it does while wondering about is take stock of the limits of reality as perceived by the senses. Following the processes allows the wondering mind to reconstruct the homunculus in steps.

It also prevents the body from getting tired.

You need to do this in conjunction with the breathing exercise.  All of this is here to keep your mind busy and have something to do when it starts to wonder.

You should have the tingles at this point and feel vibrational energy, can be mild or wild.

I have tried various methods.  The simplest is just laying down in bed and imaging my feet falling through the mattress. Slowly moving my attention up the body until all the body sinks deep into the mattress.  It doesn't feel good.  The skin feels like its turning into concrete during the process. My face feels pain when it enters that stage. Often the breath is the last sensation I have to my body.  Letting go of that is difficult.  If successful, I get a high frequency bong then boom. I enter a realm that is totally empty but full of energy.  The realm is the atman. Out of thousands of attempts I have only entered a few times.
