That is nice but how do they make the plastic housings, fans, insulators, air guides without natural gas, a fossel fuel?

How do them make the copper wires, the aluminum heatsinks, the computer chips without mining for the minerals?

How do they transport materials from suppliers to data centers without fuel for the trucks?

How do they get rid of the excess heat from the processors and other electronics without heating the surrounding air and making a lot of noise or using a lot of water?
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

If you have plenty of electricity to spare, then a closed loop for water cooling cuts down on the water usage. Can also manage the quality of the coolant better. Bugger if some stuff in the water accelerates corrosion and builds up gunk in the pipes.

I use to take care of a cooling tower at a plastic recycling plant. I know how they work and all the water loss from evaperation and having to flush the mineral buildup away. I also had to keep up with daily water consumption and waste water release amounts. It takes more water than you would think by just looking at it.

Much like wind and solar power, this is built on dirty practices that are not green at all. Most never realize this because they never look past the shiny green sales brochure.

Does the benefit out way the cost? If it is cleaner than other data centers then yes it does.

With acres of computers going through Gigawatts of power, is going to get hot. Some bit miners done well with stacks of Raspberry Pi's, not as heat and energy hungry as the latest high end chips. As for the future of Bitcoin mining, at 94%, still got another 10 years to get to 99% of the available supply, then a hundred years for that final 1% with the way things are structured.

These machines are going to be on for a while. To look for savings, better microprocessing, less noise, lower energy, smaller, faster switching, customized applications. Hardware code is quicker than software coded systems.
