Amnesty International (AI) called Thursday for an investigation into the US attack on a boat in the Caribbean, which left 11 people dead. The organization also questioned the use of force during the operation .
 The United States must demonstrate, in every attack, that intentional lethal force was used only when strictly unavoidable to protect life ," said Daphne Eviatar, AI's US director of Security with Human Rights.
Otherwise, he warned, the action could represent a violation of the right to life under international human rights law and set a " dangerous precedent ," given that in this context the use of lethal force would lack justification .
 The circumstances of the incident raise serious questions about the legality, accountability, and respect for international human rights law ," Eviatar added.

Attorney General Tarek William Saab questioned the authenticity of the US attack on a vessel from Venezuela in the Caribbean . He questioned whether the operation—which left 11 dead—should have sought to detain the vessel allegedly transporting drugs, rather than destroy it.
"If the incident had occurred, which it didn't, the first step was to try to stop, without destroying without prior combat, that alleged vessel, whose coordinates, where it came from, how it left, who was there, haven't been revealed. It's simply an animated video," Saab said.
The prosecutor warned that even in international operations against crime, there are "organizations" and "treaties" that require compliance with standards. He described as "extremely crude" and "unacceptable" the attempt to "use the supposed fight against drug trafficking" to "generate an internal implosion."
