Jailed NZ mosque shooter wants convictions overturned

He plead guilty so this to me seems like theatrics. I'm interested to see how this pans out.

A white supremacist who ‍killed 51 Muslim worshippers and injured dozens at two mosques in New Zealand is appealing his conviction and sentence.
 
Brenton Tarrant, 35, opened fire on two mosques in Christchurch in March 2019 in the worst mass shooting in ‌the country’s history.
 
The ‍Australian national was convicted of 51 charges of ‍murder, 40 counts of attempted murder and one charge of committing a terrorist act and is serving a life sentence in prison without parole.

This is what happens when law-abiding, patriotic, morally outraged officials often....

inflict brutalization on the accused beforehand.

Accused suspects 'trip,' 'fall,' or are incidentally exposed to 'other prisoner violence.'

Not judging... but if the accused has even a shred of potential proof to that effect... prisoners have a lot of time to learn how to file...

I never understood why some folks just can't let the process work...
why the accused are automatically human trash in the media...
and sadly... some actually innocent people are destroyed by an accusation and the 'zeal' of others to be part of the punishment process.

It's a liability which prosecutorial offices must address... 
because ultimately,
you might risk "giving away the store" when you take a gratuitous swipe at a suspect.

What am I saying?  I'm not in anyway an expert in these things...
Even less so in a foreign land.

I don't understand New Zealand law.

If he hadn't had pled guilty, would his sentence had been different?

I have no idea anot NZ, but we had a truth in sentencing law here where you would get a reduced sentence for pleading guilty, but 51 counts of murder--you cant really get away with a fine...

So many facebook accounts on the articles supporting this guy and his actions really speaks volumes on just how many are... lets say "politically challenged"

The guy did not act alone, but thats just people on conspiracy websites being correct.

I don't know if he acted alone or otherwise.

But what he did do was slaughter 51 peaceful worshippers.

Because he did not like the religion they chose or were born into. 

A sad piece of filth that deserves nothing but our contempt.

On the day, a father went to pick his son up from school around the time and news suggested he was armed and wearing military style clothing, and no it wasnt at the end of the school day, it was the time the shooting was going on.

Initial intel showed a connection but then [dial tone]

The guy did military traiing overseas and authorities turned a blind eye.
