U.S. tourist lands on forbidden island to give Diet Coke to remote tribe
#11
Don’t go to Nomans Island off Martha’s Vineyard.
It was a bombing range for years and live stuff is still around.
We went as teens to look for a rock that Leif Erickson evidently carved runes on 1100 AD and got caught by the military. Where they came from I have no idea.
After two hours of pants peeing terror they let us go.
Yeah, I’ve never been back!

Arghhhhh….triple

Well... I hope they didn't press charges
Some of the locals there are quite... serious.

Thanks for the pic... it seems something I never would have run across otherwise...

Were these runes reported on in academia by any chance?  Or are they too forbidden from the island?

If I was guarding something cool and mysterious, that's the story I would give to civilians who started poking around. Unexploded ordinance, uh huh. A grain of truth and a whole lot of fear tactics to discourage the public.

That's pretty neat, a rune stone that marks the arrival of Erickson. Too bad they bombed it, like the rocks in Georgia that got blown up.
I can't help what my face does when you talk

May that idiot rot in an Indian Prison for the rest of his life.

Maybe the next idiot will think twice.
Mr. Poops: Read a book, it's like broccoli for your brain.  (Are you even still around?)

The earth provides everything we need.  We thought we could do better.  We were wrong.
