People arguing it's good to be careful when it comes to using medicine, especially when pregnant, therefore what Trump said is good, are missing the point. Trump didn't just say to be careful, he implied a non-existent causal link between acetaminophen and autism/ADHD. It was wrong to make that statement because it was based on bad science, and the effect will be that pregnant women with fevers, who actually need the medicine, will think twice before taking it or will replace it with alternatives that actually are dangerous for their baby. Either way, they will damage their baby.
Ironically, it's very likely that Trump's statements will cause an increase in the amount of kids with autism.

Agreed - there was a sliight borderline p value correlation link in a couple of papers but plenty more/more advanced meta-analyisis indication of a negative correlation link; but correlation doesnf't equal causation and the declaration is purely a political stunt rather than something evidence based.
Obviously painkillers of any kind, especially during pregnancy, should be a means of last resort but tylenol/paracetamol is by far the safest and most powerful painkiller there is - aspirin and opiate based meds should never be given to foetus/children under 5 due to elevated addiction/dependecy and fatal allergic reactions to binderrs (Stevens-Johnson syndrome). It saves 100 -1000s of foetusers/pregnancies from mscariage due to fever for every on it has a negative impact over.
Genetics play az huge roile in ASD as does fever/elevated body temperature as protiens required for neuro-development and neurological migration are very sensitive to factions of F variations in core temp.

Tylenol is known to be bad for an adults liver, and why the recommended dosage is so limited. The problem that I see is when pregnant women take Tylenol in what would be considered a normal dosage, but the growing embryo has a very small undeveloped liver. Regardless of the politics of all this, it would just seem like an idea to be considered. Maybe lesser dosages recommended to pregnant women?
Just my 2 cents,

That is a potentially interesting area of research; there seems to be reasonable papers in reasonable ammounts on a potential ADHD link, but the 'miraculous' claimed ASD link to Tylenol/Paracetomol that has escaped scientific research for 40+ years but magically appeared after a gimmickk couple of months US admin deadline apeared is more based in politics than scientific papers (as are 99% the pro vs anti- Tylenol link claims in the last week or so). It acts as a blood thinner when used at the max adullt doage for 3+ days to get blood serum levels up to max safe adult dosage but I don't think it passes the umbilical chord and it's far more effective/safer/non-addictive than alternatives like opiate or gabba based pain meds and the papers beinhd the Tylenol claim fail to account for relative risk ratio increase of using higher fatality alternatives like opiate/aspirin based meds or miscariages due to fever.
Tl;dr - shit in = shit out. Unfortunately there are no miracle cures or causes to ASD; while the intention behind the 5 month 'scientific proof' deadline may have been good natured - it wasn't based in how scientific studies work or how great a weight of evidence is required toi make such grandiose statements that have a far higher risk of negative foetal develoipment than potential positives.
Chosing the safest, cheapest, non-addictive pain-killer as a target for blame is very odd and suprising from Trump as he seems 100% genuine about preventing kids/developing foetuses from opiate, or other drug, addiction and genuinely interested in the actual causes of ASD instead of the bullshit misrepresented studies and cherrypicked data.

This science stuff is cool and all, but what do you folks think about the idea that the 1982 Chicago Tylenol Poisonings were a form of retrocausal foreshadowing, or simulation-level precognition?

Just as a snap synaptic deduction, '82 was a manual interference by a madman not having to do with the damage that could be caused by metabolites.

It is always the unwitting madmen who are the best tools of the Synchronic Confluence At The End Of Time.
Anyway, I did some research on that event yesterday, you can find a nice in-depth Chicago Trib series on it. The originals are behind paywall but there are archive mirrors. Apparently he had a beef about the scammy company he was employed for—the diagrams he drew of their grift are both artistic and amusing! The lawyers claimed the letter to the President wasn't actually written by him, but doesn't that seem unlikely?

In my memory it is very clear, we spent many generations being informed by (presumed free) media...
and were indoctrinated in consumerism... now every problem is expected to have a 'product or service' solution... meaning people can peddle happiness or rage... guess which they mostly focus on? I'll wait.
Inducing rage...and promising happiness.
<ahem>
I won't call it what it is.
Now we are flummoxed as to nearing consensus...
some can no longer trust
some reject the caution, vehemently.
they argue.
Not sure, this is incredible drama over something that actually might 'actually' cost less than a penny per dose to produce.
Is it an essential element of life?...
allow those who need it to decide...
But each opinion here is virtual...
Telling people what you think is different than telling them what to do.
Sometimes reacting to your passion causes new problems in getting a point across.
Oh... listen to me ....
jibber jabber...

You can believe whatever conspiracy you choose. That's another nice deflection. I never said anything about the vaccine working or not. I gave you facts, and you deflect, deny, and lie.
You can keep your stance on leave the cause of autism alone, and your deflection and lies. In the same place you keep your brothers memory.

You provide CHOSEN "facts". What specifically fits your agenda.
Science evolves. Picking snippets doesn't tell a complete story.
