This is why you don't play political lawfare, it will come back and bite you on the azz...
Is it true? Is it Trump's misdirection or subterfuge?

With Trump Under Scrutiny Over Epstein, Tulsi Gabbard Calls For Prosecution Of Obama-Era Officials

TOPLINEWhile President Donald Trump scrambles to fend off scrutiny about his relationship to Jeffrey Epstein and the demand for the full release of the Epstein files, one of his top appointees, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, released a report Friday focused on an alleged “treasonous conspiracy” carried out by the Obama administration during the 2016 election.
KEY FACTSIn a Friday afternoon press release accompanied by a thread on X, Gabbard claimed “Americans will finally learn the truth,” about the 2016 election, and alleged the Obama administration and FBI officials “manufactured and politicized intelligence” to create doubt around Trump’s election victory in 2016.
In a memo titled the “Russia Hoax,” Gabbard’s office outlines allegations against former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey, which Gabbard says “clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of our government.”
Months after taking office in 2017, Trump fired Comey, who had overseen the FBI during the investigation into Russian interference.
The newly declassified report contains 114 pages of partially redacted emails, showing communications between Obama administration officials about potential Russian interference in the election.
Gabbard pointed to multiple intelligence community assessments in her statement that said Russia was “probably not” trying to influence the election in 2016 through cyber means, followed by press reports claiming the intelligence community had concluded Russia had tried to interfere in the election.
Gabbard’s memo alleges the Obama administration relied on the Steele Dossier in claiming that Russia interfered in the election.
Gabbard’s claims run counter to a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee investigation that found Russia interfered in the 2016 election and noted that although Trump’s contact with Russian officials presented a “grave” intelligence threat, it was not clear if the president’s allies knowingly worked with Russia to bolster Trump’s chances of victory.
A 2019 report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller also found Russia interfered in the election.
Gabbard called for the prosecution of Obama administration officials, saying “every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

I feel like we already knew this. Steele Dossier was originally oppo research from the GOP on Trump, and given to Hillary, they used that to drive the whole investigation including illegal surveillance.
The article seems a bit hyperbolic, constantly citing treason/treasonous. That can only be charged if aiding a foreign hostile nation. Other than that it's sedition (if target is in power).

Obama did, and that isn't new either. Go read his public position of it at the time, it would probably fall in line with a lot of people who didn't want to intervene.
This is the tricky thing about Russia, there has been nuance on both sides.
For instance, Obama never provided lethal aid to Ukraine, Trump was the first admin to do that (albeit, the only admin after Obama to have the opportunity post Crimea). Trump provided Javelins, and did so proudly. When Russia invaded Ukraine, Trump said Biden wasn't doing enough. He went so far to imply we should be flying drone sorties against the Russian's.
At the end of the day, both sides have flip flopped on the issue, and we could talk at length to their hypocrisy. I'm sure it could be useful on how we got here, but we're still here none the less. And we could chicken and egg the whole scenario to decide who takes the ultimate blame, but my guess is Obama or Trump don't get to own that... Even though they're both subpar presidents.

Nothing will happen.
There'll be committees, investigations, news headlines and all the other BS, but no one will be prosecuted.

We, the people, had no evidence of anything other than our conspiracy theories.

I think you're right for two reasons:
1. The timing of this is pretty obvious of the intent. Trump has been bogged down in the Epstein narrative, and I think this was throwing a bone to some of his base that are on the fence on how they feel about it. This kind of circles the wagons and shows their common opponent again. But in all reality, this doesn't really tell us anything we didn't already know.
2. The Supreme Court ruled that presidential actions can't be illegal, something many of us said will be problematic. While some celebrated it took the guardrails off for Trump, many pointed out that even if you trust him, there will be presidents you don't trust, and now they're immune.

How was I being disingenuous?
I noted we knew most of this hinged on the Steele Dossier to begin with. So what is new here?
Also, this isn't treasonous (in the legal sense) unless they did this to help a country we're at war or in conflict with. So one would have to prove that they cooperated with say China to do this.
This isn't me downplaying it for the record. Rather, I'm questioning the timing of this, and if there is any new bombshell information that we didn't already know about.

Before was complete speculation; we had nothing beyond circumstantial evidence.
This, if true, is confirmation and validation that Obama interfered with the election
Regardless if they held the evidence till now.

I think most honest people operated under the assumption the Russia investigations turning up nothing meant the Steele Dossier was nothing.
The only thing different now would be if someone said they knew it was BS, and still used it as the lynchpin to drive the whole thing.
That said, even if they found that to be the case, I would still bet money nothing will come of it. The Bush admin never had to answer for their borderline manufactured evidence to justify the war in Iraq. That cost thousands of US soldiers their life, many more wounded, and untold suicides after the fact. That's before taking into account civilian deaths because of the spiral in the region, and cost to the taxpayers.
Again, this isn't me downplaying any of those actions, by Obama or Bush... Just pointing out that society has never had an appetite for holding politicians legally accountable for their actions.
