Trump doubles down on suggesting federal government 'get involved' in state elections
Quote:
President Donald Trump on Tuesday doubled down on his controversial suggestion that Republicans "nationalize" elections as he continued to make false claims of widespread voter fraud and refused to accept his 2020 defeat.

"If a state can't run an election, I think the people behind me should do something about it," Trump said as he held a bill signing in the Oval Office surrounded by Republican lawmakers. "Because, you know, if you think about it, the state is an agent for the federal government in elections. I don't know why the federal government doesn't do 'em anyway."

Trump added that, in some cases, "The federal government should get involved. These are agents of the federal government to count the votes. If they can't count the votes legally and honestly, then somebody else should take it over."

Additionally, he is perpetuating the old, tired falsehood that he won the 2020 election; his delusions are limitless. A president widely regarded as the worst in American history seeks to manipulate the election so that Republicans can secure victories in the  midterms, stating he will only accept the midterm results "if the elections are honest," which translates to allowing him to cheat.

To this man, the Constitution holds no value. Will this be too much for Trump supporters, or will they continue to support him?

Could this be too much for the Republicans, resulting in them taking a stand against against his plans, or will they remain compliant?

this seems like a simple enough proposal

have national standards for elections

and a common infrastructure

that states can opt in to using

obviously better?

I think it's just that the truth hurts when Trump is right about anything.

I wish we had Trump here in the UK . I'd swap Starmer in a heartbeat.

I am not merely imagining this; he is asserting that he aims to take control of elections in states governed democratically because he views them as corrupt. His delusion is that he has actually won those states, "by a lot" and it is only democratic run elections he wants to place under republican control.

So you think the republicans, should take over democratic run elections?

What if Trump is right? I think he is when he says the 2020 election was stolen. I also watched from a distance as the left and Biden slowly destroyed America. Why do you think people voted for Trump? It wasn't because they all were MAGA and loved him, it was because they watched what was happening with the Biden administration and had enough. Kamala was nothing more than a token lefty and her whole campaign was wrapped around demonising the opposition and nothing else.

I like Trump, firstly because he isn't a career politician, then I like the fact that he shoots from the hip and gets it wrong sometimes. It shows he is human. I think he is a decent guy no matter how much the left and such as you try to besmirch him.
