Trump Neurosis Thread
Well this is neurotic... NYT is top-lining this article:

‘Andor’ Shows How a Resistance Is Built, One Brick at a Time

Quote:...The conflicts too may seem familiar, even more so as the second season unfolds. Imperial troops search for the “undocumented” amid a security panic that is manufactured — and amplified by media outlets — to justify a crackdown. The Empire disappears people to prison gulags with no hope of return. It bullies a small territory, undermining its autonomy to gain control of valuable natural resources. Senators weigh whether it is safe to speak out against the growing civil-liberties violations.

...In an age of copycat I.P. cash grabs, “Andor” doesn’t merely echo its source material: It also retroactively improves it. Sometimes, “Andor” suggests, the long process of liberation is harder than bulls-eyeing womp rats in your T-16 and less glamorous than a lightsaber duel. Sometimes it simply means grabbing a brick. And sometimes it means becoming one.

There is no escape from Trump, even in escapism. Everything is an allegory of the neurosis of the present.

Ive accepted the premise they are legal... have they been detained or are they in imminent threat of being detained, or are they just fearful of being detained? Did they get the email mentioned in the article?

Having a beer with him after work but I am pretty sure he told me the threat of deportation came through an email, came to all of his families emails. Something about giving them 30 days to "self deport". I haven't seen the email, but it was that email that his father received that made him go back to El Salvadore. Which is apparently an absolute shit hole. My guess, just a guess, it's the mixed messages being sent out to the communities by differen't parts of the administration that is causing feart and mistrust. Lot's of fear, because if he is a legal citizen but being told to self deport anyway.....Let's just say maybe what we are being told and what he is being told are different things.

We live in an internet-world where water armies and malicious actor wage abuse and crime on people simply living their life.
Such abuse often includes feigns and jabs that some see heralding as "the ordeal to come."
Once burned... twice shy...

I suggest it might be that his dad had been burned once too many times... realized that he'd rather be "back home" (to him) than be persecuted for doing nothing.

Where that persecution comes from should be the next clue... the email itself, I suppose.

Thanks for the clarification... this offers a partial explanation

Quote:A spokesman with Customs and Border Protection (CBP), part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), confirmed that CBP has issued notices terminating parole for people who it says don't have lawful status to remain.
The CBP spokesman said they used known email addresses of "the alien" to send notifications. So, if a non-personal email, like Main's, was used as a way to contact the person, they might have been the unintended recipient.
"CBP is monitoring communications and will address any issues on a case-by-case basis," the spokesman said.
The spokesman said the process is not limited to users of the mobile application CBP One, a Biden-era program launched in 2020 to allow migrants without entry documents to schedule appointments to enter the nation, according to the American Immigration Council.

I don't have privy to your thoughts. But this is a Trump thread, and HE IS ALWAYS HERE. He has risen up (maybe from under the sea) as our most important figure for everyone still partaking in the illusion of voice.

He lives in our hopes and nightmares and in our joy and distress. He is our Savior and our Satan. He is all around us and he is always among us.

Amen.

Only if you're chronically online. When I go outside, all the the hysteria and much ado is remarkably absent. I don't make it my business to go around initiating debates in public because people are emotional and hostile when the subject is political. I can appreciate a friendly exchange of ideas but ultimately I *know* I'm not changing anyone's mind just like they aren't changing mine.

I surmise from available data and apparent behaviors that trump is exalted because he has grit, backbone, sass and instinct. In other words, he won't give up. He is perhaps the only person who won't give up. Way back when he was young and handsome and only halfway notorious for his character, he often made remarks about the status of the US and how he wants to see it fixed. He wasn't political but he was very economically literate and had a finger on the pulse for many years before his 2015 campaign. And now he is motivated and even mandated by both the republic and the divine, whom he credits with his incredible near miss, to finish what he started. Whatever your sentiments, he is presently the only person for the job. Nobody else was prepared to sit at the resolute desk and make logistically complex and morally challenging decisions like Trump, their sole priority was keeping him out of the white house. As long as there's no Trump, America is safe and happy. That's not a strategy.

I'd suggest a solid 40% believe this as well. I can relate...
