There's only ONE choice!

If those sorts of dominoes were ever to start to fall, none of us would appreciate what happens next.

As to the end of Europe, the idea as a distinct region dates back at least to ancient Greece, so.................

"Ending" Europe as a whole is unrealistic.

Unless you wish to be next.

I don't follow the Russian propaganda...
Quote:Snap presidential elections were held in Ukraine on 25 May 2014 and resulted in Petro Poroshenko being elected President of Ukraine.[sup][1][/sup] Originally scheduled to take place on 29 March 2015, the date was brought forward following the 2014 Ukrainian revolution.[sup][2][/sup][sup][3][/sup] Poroshenko won the elections with 55% of the vote, enough to win in a single round.[sup][4][/sup][sup][5][/sup] His closest competitor, Yulia Tymoshenko, received 13% of the vote.[sup][4][/sup] The Central Election Commission reported voter turnout over 60%, excluding the regions not under government control.[sup][6][/sup][sup][7][/sup] Since Poroshenko obtained an absolute majority in the first round, a run-off second ballot (scheduled for 15 June 2014[sup][8][/sup]) was unnecessary.[sup][1][/sup][sup][9][/sup]
The election was not held everywhere in Ukraine. During the 2014 Crimean crisis, Ukraine lost control over Crimea, which was unilaterally annexed by Russia in March 2014.[sup][10][/sup][sup][11][/sup][sup][a][/sup] As a result, elections were not held in Crimea.[sup][1][/sup] Of the 2,430 planned ballot stations (in Donbas), only 426 opened for polling.[sup][13][/sup] The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic, controlling large parts of Donbas, had vowed to do everything possible to disrupt the elections on their territory.[sup][14][/sup]
Petro Poroshenko won the presidency and served a full presidential term until 2019, losing to Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ukraine may be trying to win the war, Russia may be trying to win the war, but everyone one else is funding it just enough to prolong the war.

So you say we in the west should've just let Putin roll into Ukraine, and not offered any support when asked?? I forgot Americans were OK with a terrorist attack and invasion on another Sovereign country.

Ukraine aren't trying to win a war, they're trying to defend their country from an invasion. Big difference!!

Russia are just playing games. just like they did before they invaded Crimea. Putin will tell Trump what he wants to hear and just go back to his illegal invasion.

Yada yada yada... that's a convenient way to avoid addressing the contents of the article. Consortium News has been accused by the lickspittle media before; they sued. It's a transparent ploy.

Quote:Robert Parry, the late founder of Consortium News, wrote on March 9, 2017, “As often happens these days, Freeland chose not to tell the truth but rather portrayed the article as part of a Russian propaganda and disinformation campaign. Yet, instead of fessing up and acknowledging these facts, Freeland chose to dissemble and slander journalists who were doing their job. And the smears didn’t entirely stop.”

“This pattern has become all too common in the West, to insult and discredit anyone who doesn’t accept the ‘group thinks’ about the New Cold War. Just as the major news media marched in lockstep over the Iraq-WMD falsehoods, so it has been toeing the line on the hysteria over supposed ‘Russian propaganda’ and ‘fake news.'”

We used to fight wars to win, not to aid in feeble economies.

We should have been more aggresive to Russia in the beginning.

I read the article you posted, it's either pure Russian propaganda or written by Russian apologists/supporters.

I do agree with you, the west should have been more aggressive to begin with. Part of the problem was that most European economies bought Russian energy. A lot still do!!

Edited to add....

But this situation does remind a little of how Great Britain stood pretty much alone in 1940, as Hitler rolled across Europe crushing any resistance under his boot. Some wanted to capitulate and try to bargain with Hitler. In a simplified version, Churchill saw him for what he was, a tyrant, just like Putin is now.

From the Kyiv Independent news (I'm sure they got a handle on all of this by now):

"Breakthrough unlikely at Putin-Trump meeting as US, Russia, Ukraine differ on key issues"

""Faced with Trump's deadline, Putin is again playing for time, and is likely to use a meeting to sway Trump to Russian views."
However, analysts say that the upcoming meeting between Putin and Trump may trigger another policy reversal, with the U.S. again attempting to impose the Kremlin's conditions on Kyiv.

Daniel Hamilton, a foreign policy expert at the Brookings Institution, said that "extreme caution is warranted about any Putin-Trump meeting, which is unlikely to produce anything remotely acceptable to Ukraine.""

I wonder if sanctions against India buying Russian oil is hurting Putin's wallet and that's why he is appeasing Trump for a meeting?

Lavrov just stated that Russia will give up 0 Ukrainian land. So there we have it.

Russia Is Suspected to Be Behind Breach of Federal Court Filing System

It is weird. Every time there's talks with Russia about ending the war, Russia bombs further or advances troops, and the USA accuses Russia of some kind of sneaky infowarring. Every time. It is quite a coincidence.

I don't know about the US's accusations...and due to the nature of it I doubt we will ever get to see anything that proves they did or didn't publicly...we never do.

The big push made before negotiations is so they have a stronger position going into said negotiations. However from what I saw in today's reporting it is starting to appear like this could snowball fast. They have fully broken through the last line of defense Ukraine had in that region and it was an older one which had been built up over a few years now. So even if they could rush to build another behind it and contain them...if they were able to break the older much more built up one I don't see a rushed new one helping. If they don't contain this breakthrough Russia can start hitting the rest of the defenses from directions they weren't engineered to defend. Donbass could fall before next year...

Hopefully someone forces the comedian to shut up and make peace before its too late.

Edit: Just read through the link...it says a lot of partially responsible and might have intel ties. Not a lot there but vagery and pesudo accusations. Guess I will wait to see if more comes out.
