All action, little talk; New York City Day Care Program
#1
Hochel and Mamdani have officially laid down the foundation for child care expansion in New York City. This is how campaign promises are kept folks.

Zohran Mamdani on New York’s child care funding expansion plan : NPR

Excerpts from the transcript of an interview with Mamdani, Hochel and Summers (from NPR).

"KATHY HOCHUL: For decades, governors have promised some form of child care, but never delivered. And I'm here to say the era of empty promises ends with the two of us right here...
UNIDENTIFIED PERSON: Yeah.

HOCHUL: ...Right now."

"MAMDANI: So the first thing you do is you fix what is called as 3-K, child care for 3-year-olds. That has existed here in New York City, but what it's actually meant is a family in Flatbush, Brooklyn, is offered a seat only to find out that that seat is, in fact, in Astoria, Queens, and so they can't actually take the city up on that offer. So what this commitment today does, part of it is funding the fixes necessary to make child care for 3-year-olds a reality.
The second thing it does is start to develop child care for 2-year-olds. It begins with 2,000 children this fall, and then by the end of my first term, we will be delivering it to every single 2-year-old across New York City. In the second term, we would then extend this child care for children younger than that to fulfill our campaign commitment of providing child care from children from the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years of age. We are going to age down with our commitments each and every year."

"MAMDANI: So this stage of $1.21 billion from the state to our city is going to be funded through existing revenue. And what it's going to do is allow us to fulfill this commitment and stagger it through the stages because you're not just looking for additional revenue. You're also looking to build out an apparatus and an infrastructure, and that's what we're going to do over these next four years, fulfilling it by providing child care to each and every 2-year-old across the city."

Translation : We're gonna tax the hell outta you to make our Socialist dream come true, so buckle up.

Oh and by the way, No Federal Money. This was your idea, you pay for it.
Let's see how the New Yorkers feel when it hits their wallet.

I do not know, worked with numerous New Yorkers from the 1990s to 2015 or so, and have been razzing them ever since.

Many feel like its just a property grab, trying to get a new class of landlords
His mind was not for rent to any god or government
Always hopeful yet discontent, knows changes aren't permanent
But change is

Trump Administration Says it’s Frozen $10 Billion in Child Care and Child Welfare Funding for Democratic-led States
Quote:In a move targeting lifeline benefits for at least a million American families, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced late Tuesday it had frozen roughly $10 billion in funding for social services, child care and cash aid in five Democratic-led states.

I never understood the concept of kicking money up to the Federal government, only for them to dole it down, minus overhead, back to the State again to manage and fund their own programs with.

If a city or state want to implement child care, social welfare, whatever— fine. Let them reap the benefits of their state tax contributions directly, or if the program is corrupt or inefficient, let them bear the burden of their incompetence. After all, they're in the best position to correct it.

Great more learing centers and fraud with American tax dollars.
“The American press is a shame and a reproach to a civilized people. When a man is too lazy to work and too cowardly to steal, he becomes an editor and manufactures public opinion.”

Actually I think it's mostly being funded by the NYC budget and state tax dollars? Dunno for sure though. I think a previous poster just wanted to find a way to make it about Trump somehow.

They'll whine and say they need and deserve federal money .. our tax money.
That's how socialists work ... always have their hand in your back pocket.
