The Limerick Game
#1
The Limerick Game

The format of the Limerick game is A₁A₂B₁B₂A₃. The syllable pattern is 88558. The first line(A₁) rhymes with the second line(A₂). The third line(B₁) rhymes with the fourth line(B₂), and the fifth line(A₃) rhymes with the second line(A₂) which of course also rhymes with the first line(A₁).

The first user writes the first line(A₁) consisting of 8 syllables, and then the second user writes the second line(A₂) also consisting of 8 syllables, so on and so forth.

Example:
1. So this is called the limerick game,(8 syllables)
2. and it just might drive you insane(8 syllables; rhymes with line 1)
3. Not my intention(5 syllables)
4. this odd invention,(5 syllables; rhymes with line 3)
5. and some might even think it's lame(8 syllables; rhymes with line 1 and 2)

Note: some pronounce "limerick" with two syllables and some with three(two here).

This is just something else to toss into the Collaborative Writing section and throw down a line from time to time:

Hit the road on a rainy day,
weather's no matter anyway

And if you get wet,
there's no need to fret.
That's really no reason to stay.

So what are the rules with this game?
Are all the limericks the same?
Don't do well with rules
Those are for the fools
I'll never abide in this frame.

I'll never abide in this frame
where a single line is the game

But perhaps, I can
just follow a plan.
Alas, my temper doth enflame!

Alas, my temper doth enflame!
Just a second line in this game?

Only problem is...you're always going to be stuck on things rhyming with "...ame"

No way to ever get to..."Nantucket"  ??  Lol Lol

So with nowhere to go
I had nothing to show

...and therefore I said, "aww ___ it!" (hee hee, never mind!)

and made my way to Nantucket,
but the rules took a nasty blow

Well...

Soon after my, "F___it!"
My friends grabbed a bucket
And as surely you know
The wind doth blow
And many weren't able to duck it!
