The Banter Cafe
IF YOU DEEP FRY IT YOU DONT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE GERMS

I've yet to try a fried Mars bar.

Mars sucks now that they've changed the recipe from when I was a kid.
Shame.
Cadburys also tastes bad.
It's like they both switched from real cream and sugar to lead and syrup or someshz.

I've noticed that too lately. My go to's, like my fav ginger ale brand, tastes terrible now since they claim they now add real ginger. Who knows what they are adding, that they don't list on the label.

Yep. One for you, too, mate.
I now know why I am called a grown up. Every time I get up I groan.

i used to think it was a import vs domestic issue but no, the brands have started crapping the bed lately.
Mars we get imported here are made in Poland. and it taste bad.
c'est la vie.
i am not chalking it up to an aging palate. They definitely changed the ingredients for the worse.

Is there a shift do you think? Maybe they are substituting palm oil and corn syrup or other cheap ingredients and add 'flavoring' (which is a whole other topic in itself) to mask those tastes?

Don't hold me to it in a court of lore ;) but I can swear the Mars and Cadbury in my childhood (1980s) had no corn syrup or syrups.  And I think it previously didnt use soy, seed, or flower oils. Now they have glucose syrup and or corn syrup. Highly changes taste.
Also the metallic taste is coming from somewhere, maybe preservatives they didnt use to have.

Yes, I am noticing a metallic taste in different food and drink items too. Who knows what they are using as preservatives now. I just stop buying those brands and then have to go trying other brands to see if they are any better; usually not.
