A year or two ago Musk was warning the same things, now he is all onboard the stupid AI train, which of course aligns with his transhumanist goals.  Not on board with either, personally, obviously.

I am resigned to the fact that AI will run things.

I only ask AI to deposit large sums of money into my checking account (legally) so I can enjoy the take-over of humanity in comfort.

Exact same thing with my Etsy side hustle. Now I’m seeing AI altered versions of my work being sold by others. I’ll search for certain types of designs and boom... there’s my design, just slightly changed on Etsy and on other sites.

It’s not just one seller. For a while, I was tracking the shops using AI and stealing... but after finding 30 something stores doing that on Etsy... there is no way I could challenge all them on copyrights, it would be an endless battle... the sad part is even if I pulled all my art offline... someone will still be selling my work.

Before, people would just outright steal. Now it’s even worse... there are dozens of AI spun versions floating around. And somehow, even with AI, some are still too lazy to create anything... they just strip the watermark with AI and list my original work as their own.

Yeah, they run the image through AI a bunch of times and end up with several versions, some better than anything a living artist could make.

What really gets to me is when it’s barely changed, and see small things that I know I added... stuff no one else would think to include.  

I’m not even against AI in general. I’m just against how it’s being abused on those platforms.

Right now, it’s the wild wild west.

I am not against AI. Yes it is being abused so bad right now. In every sector. 

I was searching Shein and a AI of my designs just came up.

It seems AI can't do many things correctly. ChatGPT can't even beat an ATARI 2600 at chess.

Well... just to stay consistent...

That's because (mostly) that it's not AI.

It's an LLM... it's not about learning from data... it's about feeding on it.
"Intelligence" is now officially a marketing buzzword...
it has nothing more to do with reality.

The general mania about AI was the result of marketing... not technical research and development.

LLM's are a landmark development.  The framework developers should be praised...

"But AI?... Not so fast!" ... I said... to no one there...
and of course, no one listened.

This construct feeds on human discourse... it has no conceptual reality, it is not "intelligent," it does not have a means to "understand" anything at all.  It just regurgitates a mathematical choice of options...  "super phone tree power."

But it can parse language better than anything I have ever seen before.

My 16 year old thought he was slick in school. He did a history project using AI. AI found the information from Wikipedia and a few other sources. 

His teacher called me and said your kid is using AI. He told me that AI found wrong info on Wikipedia because the writer was wrong.

This was two months ago!

This tech is not the problem (as usual.)

It's the appearance the marketeers (& talking heads) foisted upon it...
everyone thinks this is AI... and that "AI" is a clever appliance...
a mind slave... a service.

BACK IN MY DAY when we wrote a paper we went to the library and checked out a big stack of books. and we took notes ourselves. 
then we actually remembered and thought about what we were (skim) reading! :D

Grok is the perfect example as to how the algorithm is dependent on the programmer, if the programmer's vague intentions which Musk told Grok to go 'a little more right', but Grok interpreted it to go find extreme right-wing and find the truth...Grok could not find the truth, but could only find Hitler and antisemitism.
