Quote:- it is the covid it did something

In a study. A 6 mg nicotine patch per day for a week will cure long covid symptoms. Takes about a month after treatment to realize results.

I wish we could grow more of our own stuff.  We only have a patio though.

Try planting some basil around the base of the Tomato plants and it will enhance the flavor of the fruit and also help with pest control.

gardening is awesome and this is all very true growing your own food is tasty and good for the soul

but, to be clear, it could also be true that we are dimension hopping through a spiral of parallel realities that are approaching an apocalypse where everything is a simulation, and that's why meals are getting less satisfyingly flavourful, right?

What is a chippie?

Chipmunk.

I use the long plastic rectangles for planting green onions.  I put them on the top of the deck railing, I have treated 2x8s on the top.  The wife puts her indoor plants on the deck too for the summer.  It is nice having green onions, we buy a big bag of bulbs and plant those two inches apart in those rectangles'  We pull out some green onions and toss some bulbs in where we pulled them.  So rotation keeps the planters always producing for green onions.  There are probably sixteen to twenty green onions in a planter.  After about three cycles, the soil in the planter usually gets full of root scraps though, so if we had a longer summer, we would probably do a soil change or if we had more of those planter boxes, we would just fill another one and start a new box...they don't grow so well inside though in winter, wish they wouldl  They are good on salads and in stuff like spinach dip.  But it only costs about a buck ten for a bundle in the store anyway.

it used to have zing and aftertaste and be satisfying in way that is not any more

now why is this

well here is expanations theories any why you share your opinion:

- it is the covid it did something
- it is frankenfood and capitalisms
- we mandela effect jumped to other timeline with bland food
- it is drugs they put in to make unsaisfy and eat more so fat and sell drugs
- it is simulation like in matrix they couldn't make chicken

now perhaps the covid no taste thing is coverup for something else! oh it could also be some kind of warfare?

what, do you think and your experience?

also there is company sysco that has all restraunt food supply has anyone looked in to them

One simple thing you could do is to brush your tongue to see if that was the reason. (Right now I'm into researching homemade mouthwash and remineralization of enamel remedies.)
---------------

"Yes, brushing your tongue helps food taste better.
A buildup of bacteria, food particles, and dead cells on the tongue can coat the taste buds and dull your sense of taste. By brushing or scraping your tongue, you remove this layer, allowing your taste buds to make direct contact with food. This enhances your ability to detect flavors, making meals more vibrant and enjoyable.
  • Improved Taste Sensitivity: Removing debris from the tongue’s surface exposes taste buds, improving their sensitivity to sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami flavors.
  • Better Digestion: A clean tongue stimulates saliva production, which is essential for breaking down food and initiating digestion.
  • Enhanced Experience: Many people report that foods taste richer and more satisfying after regular tongue cleaning. "

well of course i brush my tongue who doesn't lol. well i didn't when i was a kid so maybe not everyone. there are also tongue scraper things and i have one but those arent needed in my experience if you just brush every day. also important but less so is brushing (gentle) the roof of the mouth everyone seems to miss that haha. but for taste and scent even more important than tongue in my experience is to do regular sinus rinses with saline which if you havent done them are weird and horrible and feel like youre drowning until you get used to it but once you start doing them regular it is like whole new nose world. Yes, I forgot about smell being an important part of the whole tasting process.

I sometimes buy ready meals - chilli con carne, lasagne and such.

Lately they seem to be so loaded with sugar as to make them inedible.
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope.  Nothing...

From going to Western Europe every couple of years and having grown up there, I can tell and see the food is getting just as bad as the States, slowly.
Processed, sugar, added fat, and salt. I was shocked to see KFC at the mall in Portugal , and Burger Kings in Spain and stuff.
Not AS bad but approaching it. if you get brand name/supermarket stuff.
Ironically now that I am eating vegetarian for part of the week, I found a really good brand of frozen lunches that has no added BS and tastes really good. The ingredients are literally only like 6 or 7 things long that's it:

https://bluezoneskitchen.com/

They seem to be nation wide in the US. I recommend them if you have to have a quick meal.

Example
Korean Mixed Rice Bowl
Ingredients: Cooked Organic Adzuki Beans Organic Adzuki Beans, Water), Gochujang Sauce (Water, Onion, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Rice Vinegar, Garlic, Pear Puree Concentrate, Ginger, Toasted Sesame Oil, Gluten Free Tamari Soy Sauce [Water, Soybeans, Salt], Red Pepper Powder, Rice Starch, Konjac), Cooked Rice Blend [Water, Brown Rice, Red Rice, Wild Rice], Zucchini, Carrot, Spinach, Red Bell Pepper.

Nothing on the nutrition list is high unless you count the fiber! Or 400mg of salt as high. I think thats low for a pre made meal.

Anyway felt like sharing.

In the same way we lose things like hearing and vision.

That may account for the change.

And may make food seem less flavorful.

What you are saying has merit, however if you grow your own, you know.   Homegrown tomatoes taste as good as they ever did.   Same with everything else we have managed to eke out of the soil.   I am so spoiled for seafood that I can't tolerate fish that has been frozen, or conch, or whelks, or Spiney Lobster.   What I miss and cannot have, however, is elk, deer and moose venison.
