U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning following a provocative flyover by Venezuelan F-16 fighter jets near the USS Jason Dunham in the Caribbean Sea.
Trump declared that American forces have full authority to shoot down Venezuelan aircraft if they put U.S. naval vessels in a dangerous position.
The Pentagon described the Venezuelan action as a “highly provocative show of force”, while Washington has reinforced its regional posture by deploying additional warships and 10 F-35 stealth fighters to Puerto Rico as part of ongoing counter-narcotics operations.

The Department of State and the Department of Justice are announcing a reward offer increase of up to $50 million under the Narcotics Rewards Program (NRP) for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Nicolás Maduro for violating U.S. narcotics laws.
 
For over a decade, Maduro has been a leader of Cartel de los Soles, which is responsible for trafficking drugs into the United States.  On July 25, 2025, the U.S. Department of the Treasury designated Cartel de Los Soles as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT).

Treasury Sanctions Venezuelan Cartel Headed by Maduro

WASHINGTON — Today, the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned the Cartel de los Soles (a.k.a. Cartel of the Suns) as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist.  Cartel de los Soles is a Venezuela-based criminal group headed by Nicolas Maduro Moros and other high-ranking Venezuelan individuals in the Maduro regime that provides material support to foreign terrorist organizations threatening the peace and security of the United States, namely Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel.
