Sceptic here

I'll start by stating that the only interest I have in UAP or Ufology is debunking it completely. I used to read the proper forum years ago and always preferred the sceptical threads. There was a contingent of sceptics on the proper forum and I hope some of them made their way here.

Apart from this I look forward to reading and perhaps engaging with topics on this forum.

Thanks

While the Drake equation probably holds a slim hope of intelligent extraterrestrial life, I think that the likelihood that they could ever get here is vanishingly small, and that's why we probably will never see them.

Even if they were studying us, it would be with nanoscopic probes which can be accelerated to higher speed, are invisible, use less materials to construct, and probably self-replicate, so they can spread exponentially.

You haven't seen anything you can't identify because your mind is closed on the subject and you dismiss any evidence as optical illusions or someone is just lying.

A healthy dose of skepticism is a good thing, but it seems you dismiss any and all claims because you yourself have never seen something you can't identify.

I've seen several things in my life that convinced me "the truth is out there".

I don't work for NASA, but I can tell you satellites don't make 90 degree turns or stop and reverse in their orbit.
I am skeptical of 98% of UAP sightings. People make mistakes and that's to be expected.

It's that other 2% that can't be explained is what interests me.

I don't believe in alien tech but I fancy we have stuff well in advance of what we are permitted to know. I remember years ago, it used to be said that we have tech 50 years ahead of what is public.

Start a thread in the UFO Forum Ripple.

This is the Introductions Forum so probably not the best place for discussion about (assumptions on) the origins of Unidentified Flying Objects.

I've just found the evidence for UAP/UFOs to be completely non-existent without even getting into hypothesizing what they might be. The media pretence since 2017 has only increased my scepticism.

Welcome.

Are you sure and are you defining phenomena as aliens? Because that's a logical fallacy.

The very definition is unidentified aerial phenomena/unidentified flying object. Anything else is just assumptions usually borne from things like the ego and association.

Real UFO's do exist, highly compartmentalized weapons platforms and spying surveillance platforms are going to be a UFO to the vast majority of people and the percentage in the know is going to be something like 0.000012% or less.

But here's a mild list of theoretical (and real) phenomena that the vast majority wouldn't know about of which to the individual witness would 100% be defined as UAP/UFO:

Earthquake lights
Plasmoids
Dark lightning
St Elmo's fire
TLEs: (transient luminal effects)
Sprites
ELVES
Blue jets
Gnomes
Pixies
Trolls
Green ghosts
Ball lightning

There's the Hessdalen lights which have not been solved (as far as I'm aware) then there's man-made objects that are misinterpreted which I've already touched on although not all of them need to be black budget projects. There's objects/phenomena from space like super fast interstellar meteors/meteorites that would confuse the vast majority of people which turn out to essentially be earth grazing fireballs.

Fact is there's a lot of phenomena even trained observers don't know about which is why pilot logs or any other professionals stick with the facts instead of assumptions. Hence why their logs are short and sweet. It's not about explaining but leaving a log that may be corroborated at a later date or in real time by others, such as radar operators or even meteorologists.

Welcome to the site.

You should not take a skeptic stance against UFOs and UAPs, keep an open mind, do not discount it because you have not seen any or just because you have seen something and found through research what the real cause of it is.

My opinion is that there are some advanced beings out there, most likely not aliens, who mastered this because they have found ways of hiding themselves from the warmongering, power crazy people who would have destroyed them and taken their technology over the millennium.

Are they humans?  Don't know, but apparently these beings just want to avoid us because humans are weird and destructive.  I wouldn't mind if they came over for coffee, but am lousy at translating foreign languages.  I believe they reside in south America in cloaked cities myself....why do I think they live there?....because there is coffee growing there. Lol

If they exist, I don't think they are aliens, I just think they are smarter than us and way more technologically advanced than us.  They could also just be humans who are not interested in dealing with us.  Look at our society in America, everyone I know is crazy about something.  These people or whatever they are might have to destroy us if we become a threat to us, and I think that there are some people in our government classified agencies that are aware of these intelligent beings and may have already had communications with them.  It would be stupid to threaten these people/beings when they could disable all of our weapons or destroy them.

Now this is just my opinion, I do not have any proof, I have never seen a UFO I could not researh and find out what it really was.  I have seen some strange vehicles years back when the airbase was here, but had connections with some people there that told me they were advanced experimental craft that were being tested by our military or by our countries defense contractors.  That was years ago, many of those aircraft are now in use and some already have been discontinued because new better ones have been developed.

I do not consider myself a skeptic though, I am just not someone who believes others without real applicable evidence that is pertinent to what they are applying it to.  I will keep an open mind and will not be dragged into siding with one side or the other.

I bet you’d believe if you had a grey alien show up in your bedroom at 3am. Was it all in my head? It happened 5 separate times. So, I don’t think so. Goddamn space invaders.
