Russian submarine at risk of explosion in European waters after fuel leak

After Italy, Spain to send navy ship to assist Gaza aid flotilla

Maybe it has something to do with the hostilities going on towards aid ships for Gaza? At the wrong place, wrong time with everything else going on around the Mediterranean?

With the current state of international relations, a tough one to provide assistance for. Whatever the situation is, hope cooler heads prevail than things going critical.

However we cannot deny that NATO - from a diplomatic perspective, shit the bed... so to speak.

This could pan out to be a humanitarian crisis... those sailors might need intervention.

But nevertheless, NATO will ensure that the entire matters is framed in hostile subterfuge and threats... (because it's only OK when they do the exact same things.)

Clearly, NATO existed to address a dead threat....  All those Soviets they feared so greatly are dead.
They should have taken the win and dissolved it (with great pomp and circumstance)... and let the people of all those nations ASK to have them "take the lead" on their "collective" security.  They could have reformed and established a new - relevant - charter.

They needed to be completely disbanded upon the dissolution of it's very reason to exist....

but they used the time-honored "mission-creep" tactics and here we are ...  NATO is a cozy collection  or warmly inclined contract negotiators.

NATO's premise can be framed as a delusional fantasy...  as in anything "they can postulate" becomes a plea for billions... (ahem.)

The image of NATO is fat-cats asking for money... and threatening everyone with horror scenarios to keep it going.

My assertions are based on outcomes and history... not 'feel-good' platitudes marketed by PR firms of governments with their toes (at least) dipped in the black market.... which is bigger than our "market."

I'm not seeing it myself in this situation (for the moment), the news about the incident came from a Russian Telegram channel and not NATO. The 2000 Kursk submarine sinking wasn't anything to do with the west either...

Quote: The explosion that led to the sinking was traced to a leak of hydrogen peroxide that came into contact with a catalyst, causing the failure of a Type 65-76A torpedo in the forward torpedo room. This was followed by a second explosion, which split the submarine and caused it to rapidly sink. According to the Norwegian Seismic Array Service, seismic events were recorded by Norwegian, Canadian and American stations; the Norwegian service identified the activity as “explosions,” not earthquakes.

Evidence collected after the submarine was salvaged indicated that some of the sailors survived for up to eight hours following the explosion.

I wouldn't be surprised at anything coming out of Russia.   You just reminded me of Atlas Shrugged when the coal engine went through the tunnel in the mountain and everyone died.

Could this be the same Russian sub that was being searched for, found and tracked earlier in the month further north?

The plan is to have the Russian spy ship, Lauga (currently in the Mediterranean) meet up with it to 'help' and then the sub will be taken to Kaliningrad.

This smells like a scheme to resupply Kaliningrad with missiles and position a nuclear sub off it's coast.
The border between Poland/Lithuania and Belarus has been closed and the railway between Belarus and Russia was just closed due to a fuel train colliding with a fuel truck on the tracks.

This smells like an attempt to resupply Kaliningrad with more missiles.

Non nuclear subs run on diesel fuel. What exactly is the problem. They pump seawater into and out of the fuel tanks to maintain bouncy all the time. If it leaks into the bilge then it will have oil separators to take it out when pumping overboard. They can recover the fuel as part of normal operations. If it is leaking elsewhere, they can bucket it into the bilge then deal with it.

Now, if it is some rocket fuel for the weapons or nuclear reactor leak, they are already dead.

This whole story smells and not of diesel fuel.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

Yes, it was tracked traveling through the English Channel.
