Russian navy sub is at risk of explosion in European waters amid a serious fuel leak onboard, according to reports.
The 242ft Kilo-class submarine Novorossiysk, which is capable of carrying Kalibr missiles, is suffering from a serious technical problem.
The vessel was spotted yesterday in the Strait of Gibraltar off the Mediterranean Sea.
Now a Telegram post by the Russian channel VChk-OGPU claimed that the submarine has no spare parts for repairs or a qualified specialist crew to fix the issue.

With fuel accumulating in the hold, the crew may have no choice but to pump it into the sea, it added.
Part of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, Novorossiysk is not thought to be involved in the war with Ukraine, the Sun reported.
Earlier this year, Royal Navy helicopters and a warship tracked the submarine as it sailed west through UK waters in the North Sea and English Channel.

Quote:The Black Sea Fleet submarine Novorossiysk has flagged that an "explosive hazard" is allegedly onboard. It has been reported that the sub is experiencing "serious technical problems". According to Russian Telegram channel, VChK-OGPU, the sub is suffering a leakage of fuel which has created a dangerous hazard. The crew may have no choice but to pump the fuel mixture into the sea, it has been reported.
It remains unclear on where exactly the incident has taken place within the Mediterranean. The Telegram channel stated: "Novorossiysk, currently on combat duty in the Mediterranean Sea, is experiencing serious technical problems. Due to damage in the fuel system, fuel is leaking directly into the hold. There are no spare parts for repairs or qualified specialists on the submarine, and the crew is unable to fix the malfunctions.

A few News sites are running this story now, so I thought I'd post it.
Is this incident happening because of a lack of maintenance for the Sub' or could this be something more sinister perhaps?  Is this a real emergency, or is it a way to disrupt maritime traffic in the area?

No, I was going to stay quiet on this one, but maybe Ukraine can help?

Maybe its sabotage from a Russian submariner who's a Ukrainian sympathizer?

Let the conspiracies rip.

What about an underwater drone from some other country that will never take the credit?

So, I went direct to the TASS and Pravda RU Russian web sites which are their news  agencies. NOTHING was reported on either site which could be their play as a result of embarassment, esponiage or something else but this sub has NUKES aboard. So one would expect a peep in their press.

Or, a NATO false flag?

A bit convenient to develop problems in the narrow Strait of Gibraltar.  Esp. after crossing the North Sea and Channel apparently without issue.

Any word if shipping is being affected?

What many still think of as "Soviet" technical capabilities, are not to be discounted.
Accidents can come from the non-human, non-bullshit, world.

If it were somehow inexpedient to report the incident, they wouldn't.

But NATO is a poly-diplomatic stink that has repeatedly been caught cramming fear into every narrative, ... just like the "Soviets" used to... so there's that.

Russia let a whole sub sink with the loss of it's entire crew rather than let the west help back in 2000 because they didn't want western eyes looking over it, so not reporting on a possible incident is nothing to the Kremlin, before we even think about not reporting for other reasons.

Is this a fear narrative though?
Reporting on a Russian sub' in trouble with the possibly of a fuel link or spill in the Mediterranean seems a legit news item.

Oh it no doubt could be true....

However we cannot deny that NATO - from a diplomatic perspective, shit the bed... so to speak.

This could pan out to be a humanitarian crisis... those sailors might need intervention.

But nevertheless, NATO will ensure that the entire matters is framed in hostile subterfuge and threats... (because it's only OK when they do the exact same things.)

Clearly, NATO existed to address a dead threat....  All those Soviets they feared so greatly are dead.
They should have taken the win and dissolved it (with great pomp and circumstance)... and let the people of all those nations ASK to have them "take the lead" on their "collective" security.  They could have reformed and established a new - relevant - charter.

They needed to be completely disbanded upon the dissolution of it's very reason to exist....

but they used the time-honored "mission-creep" tactics and here we are ...  NATO is a cozy collection  or warmly inclined contract negotiators.

NATO's premise can be framed as a delusional fantasy...  as in anything "they can postulate" becomes a plea for billions... (ahem.)

The image of NATO is fat-cats asking for money... and threatening everyone with horror scenarios to keep it going.

My assertions are based on outcomes and history... not 'feel-good' platitudes marketed by PR firms of governments with their toes (at least) dipped in the black market.... which is bigger than our "market."
