An assault weapon can be a stick if I intentionally hit someone with it. I will then have committed assault. Assault weapon only applies to how guns are used. It it not a classification of them. You take a shot on a target and it compairs the sight picture when fired to where it hit. It then recommends correction and can automatically apply it to the scope.
