Regrowing Teeth in Humans Upcoming Trials
#1
It's almost here, well actually almost there. It's availability here in The West will always have stumbling blocks, but I'll always push for it to my dentist.

---

"Human trials began at Kyoto University Hospital, and the first safety phase concluded without serious adverse events. The next phase is now moving forward, starting with children born missing six or more permanent teeth, a rare condition with no biological treatment anywhere in the world. If that succeeds, the team plans to expand to adults who lost teeth to decay, injury, or age.

The researchers are targeting general availability around 2030, though that timeline depends on the drug proving it can actually regrow teeth in humans, not just animals. Safety is confirmed. Efficacy is the question the next trials must answer."

Have no fear, dentists will be able to monetize this for sure.

All I need is for my teeth to hold out a few more years. Post's and crowns are getting expensive, and may only be temporary.

I hope we will be able to get this technology/service from other sources, other than dentists.

Maybe eventually. The medications involved in the procedure will likely require a prescription at a minimum.

There could be side effects that come with the protein blockers.

It is being described as a 'humanized monoclonal antibody' and so far it looks promising. So they are touting it as safe, but now need to study its efficacy.

"Safety: Preclinical studies in mice, ferrets, and dogs showed complete tooth formation with no serious adverse effects; Phase I results through October 2025 reported no serious adverse events (SAEs). "

The timeline:

"Summer 2026Phase 2 enrolment (planned)
Kyoto University Hospital. Pediatric oligodontia. First efficacy test in humans.

2027–2028
Phase 2 interim readouts
Imaging evidence of tooth-bud activation. Critical decision point. 15–20% probability of programme delay or redesign at this stage.

2028–2029
Phase 3 (Japan)
Expanded pediatric oligodontia cohort. Confirmatory efficacy and longer-term safety. Conditional approval pathway under orphan designation may shorten standard Phase 3 duration.

~2030–2032
Conditional approval (Japan) — pediatric oligodontia
Target launch under MHLW orphan designation. ¥1.5M JPY target price, national health insurance reimbursement pursued.

2032–2035
US/EU availability + broader adult indications
Open IND with FDA, EMA Innovation Task Force engagement, separate Phase 2/3 programmes for acquired adult tooth loss. Realistic, not certain."

I'm not saying it's not safe necessarily.

Heck, I could buy antibiotics at the pet store. They are perfectly safe until someone miss uses them.

Well, if adults are willing to try it to see what happens, since it is basically proven safe, we should be able to get it at the corner store if we want.

Would you suggest people self administer ivermectin?

That's considered safe, yet people died from inadvertent overdoses.

Good luck, I hope you don't end up with shark teeth.

Two totally different scenarios and the deaths from invermectin are not clear in a lot of cases, except those who tried to treat their Covid-19 infection after ignoring government warnings.

But to answer your question, with the proper scientific backing and warning labels people should have the freedom of choice.

Yeah, it may be a gamble as they have not yet established its efficacy.

Maybe this is where dentists will cash in, pulling out the shark teeth. LOL
