Evil is not the Opposite of Good, it's the Opposite of Truth
If you put a little truth in a lie, it is believed by more people.  That is how they weasle our money from us, by deceiving us.  They twist things to make us believe they are true, by taking things out of context or by making something seem relevant when it is not.

Deceiving someone in this country is not illegal, why?  Because politicians do it all the time, they need to force politicians to tell the truth and the whole truth.  Campaign promises are mostly never kept, and they make them knowing they will never pass so they can get in power.  If an honest politician does get elected, they find they need to make deals with the devil to get anything for those who voted for them.

This is a very pertinent thread to reality in this world.

What gives rise to inner conviction?

Hopefully it is God.
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

I accept the first... belief/faith at it's core has an external component...

But the second I wonder about...

Because if it was an invention of an individual... we could throw a lot of sincerely faithful people a left hook, just by intimating is was a creative work of fiction... taken too far by it's adherents...

I shudder to think of the hateful examples... I won't entertain that though.

We believe stuff we make up continuously... it's almost a social 'game,' if it weren't so damn tragic.

Good point.

If all agree the unreasonable is reasonable, then is there any "right" context? Is truth truly "multi-modal", or is there merely a workable illusion that it is?
