If Pietro gets in, it would be a nightmare for the church.
And schism would happen.
Orthodox (i.e. REAL) Catholics would leave, and the heretical ones would be all that is left.
The church would be dead.

You call Cardinal Sarah a fool ... yet he's in line with John Paul II and Benedict XVI, who you just called reasonable.   Sarah is so close in line with Benedict XVI that they co-authored a book together after Benedict left the papacy.  "Francis" was so threatened by what this and by what they said (orthodox Catholicism) that he demanded that Benedict take his name off the book.

He's up to his eyeballs in the pedophile scandal in the church, shuffling and hiding perps.

He has taken the heretical position that sexually active gays should be allowed to receive Holy Communion.  This is heresy.   Any Catholic having sex outside of a validly blessed marriage is guilty of adultery and/or sodomy.   Gays who are having gay sexual relations are doing so outside of a validly blessed marriage - which can only happen between a man and a woman.  Same with straight people having sex outside of marriage.   So McElroy is preaching against the Catholic faith.

He's a loud mouth in politics, taking the same position on 'no borders' illegal immigration as "Francis" and he's been trolling Republicans and President Trump.   He got assigned to Washington DC by "Francis" because "Francis" was trolling Trump by putting McElroy and his big mouth there.   "Francis" took McElroy, who was past retirement age, and moved him 3,000 miles across the country just to drop him in Trumps lap.   Disgusting behavior by both "Francis" and Mcelroy.

Christians are so stupid if they think a marriage certificate protects them from The Little Death.

It is very obvious, 0% of Catholic priests (and monks for that matter, lol) uphold a vow of strict sexual continence.

So for Catholics to say premarital and gay sex is heresy, is hypocritical.

Your statement about 0% upholding celibacy is flat out false.  You have nothing to base that on.

It is Catholic teaching that premarital and gay sex are outside of a valid marriage and therefore are a mortal sin.  McElroy saying that people in mortal sin can take communion is against Catholic teaching and therefore is heresy.

Nope it is 100% correct as far as I can tell. And the phrase I used was Strict Sexual Continence. In other words a zero tolerance policy of The Little Death.

Are there any 500 year old priests and monks?

Not that I know of.

If you can show me one, I will change my assertion to 99.999999999% correct.

As it is written in the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah, “Find me 10 righteous individuals!”

You can’t!

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Priests take vows of celibacy.
The vast majority of them stick to it.
Sex outside of a valid marriage is a mortal sin as far as the Catholic church is concerned.
Therefore, McElroy saying that actively gay people can take communion is heresy
because they have sex outside of validly blessed marriages.

Hey, the Methodists survived it, and each schism'd denomination grew in its new demographic. Well not so much the United Methodists, in the churches that stayed United city attendance increased while rural attendance fell.

It would likely follow a similar mold, with The African and rural denominations leaving to form The Global Catholic Church or something. But they'd have to really shake things up beyond just loving immigrants.

That's exactly why I suggested him. Like I said, it wasn't a serious suggestion. Why else appoint him Jan, 6th? A vatican statement all the way.

But how do you know that isn't a really popular sentiment in the vatican, which I feel is what is being hinted at. 40% of adhering Catholics are from the countries Trump is opposing right now.

Like you don't name your country El Salvador unless your pretty Catholic. It's a tall ask to find an anti-immigrant pope. And I don't think they'll value the input of US leaders on this one.

If you look at the "contenders" it's

Pietro Parolin, Péter Erdő, Luis Antonio Tagle, Matteo Zuppi, Peter Turkson, and Fridolin Ambongo Besungu. A quick check on these says they're going to continue the reformist trajectory, including allowing gay communion giving heretic Cardinals.

Sarah is not the direction they appear to want to go. Especially his somewhat timewarped "gay people can't be with one with god, EVER!" thing. Reinforcing that is what makes heresy fun and turns many people in the LGBT spectrum away from the church altogether... and there are too many proud sinners as it is... (from the church's perspective)

But I also think LGBT takes a backseat to embracing people in general. They seem to want to put the DEI into Catholism and do the Anglican/United Methodist "love is love" thing along the way..

I think what they do and the statement they make with this pick will probably separate wheat from chaff for EVERYONE regardless of side.

Hmm. I'd recommend this book, by a Catholic Prelate, the Bishop of Trondheim:

Chastity - Reconciliation of the Senses by Erik Varden. "At a time when religion is in decline in the Western world and when it often seems that the senses have run riot, Erik Varden shows that chastity, the single minded direction of the senses, is a loveable quality and one that affects and beautifies humankind."

Here is a great interview with Fr Varden:

Here is what I found in Wikipedia which I believe means Catholic law:

"In the canon law of the Latin Church, the word celibacy is used specifically in the sense of being unmarried. However, for its clergy this state of being unmarried is considered to be a consequence of the obligation to be completely and perpetually continent:
Quote:Clerics are obliged to observe perfect and perpetual continence for the sake of the kingdom of heaven and therefore are bound to celibacy which is a special gift of God by which sacred ministers can adhere more easily to Christ with an undivided heart and are able to dedicate themselves more freely to the service of God and humanity."

Fact of the matter is, 100% of these clerics do not observe perfect continence.

If they did, then they could really claim to have performed exorcisms!
