RFKjr confirmed as the secretary of HHS, this will be interesting, the one thing I want from Canada is thier Fruit Loops-type restrictions on ALL our food products
NGL this was the one guy I wanted and the one guy I thought they would not confirm.... Trump must have some serious dirt on a load of dirt bags

Right? It sucks having to drive 20 minutes to get a freaking loaf of bread that isn't made with crappy poison American flour. So much for those "amber waves of grain".

Interesting or terrifying?
Please let there be a CDC page on the correct way to move wild animal carcasses to urban centers on impulse.
"When decapitating a beached pilot whale to strap to your minivan roof one must first decide how much of the torso they want to remove, draw a line in magic marker, and then cut away unwanted flesh with a chainsaw."

At least the whales head was organic.

Why would you think that Trump has any serious dirt on anyone?
Trump previously held the highest office in the land for four years and did nothing significant about the alleged 'swamp', and presented no evidence despite his repeated insistence that it was important to his campaign.
The confirmation of so many questionable selections in the new legislation who were/are deep-end conspiracy theorists, means this entire term of office is likely to be a waste of resources, denying credible data and with empty accusations and damaging purges.
Putting RFKjr in charge of HHS and Musk in charge of 'government efficiency' are two loud warning alarms.

I thought he was just trying to appoint people to their most ironic positions.
Perhaps nominate a professional wrestler wife to dismantle the Department of Education - because they took taxpayer money and made kids woke and over-vaccinated. It really seems to be the most common across the board thing. If it's gettin' a purge, it was woke.
We are proud to be the most prudish and panophobic Non-muslim or communist country! Trump should just own it and commission a national mural of multi-racial Norman Rockwell americana children burning House On Mango Street. and all the other obscene indoctrinating smut literature. Death to the activist lesbian writers influencing our children! Destroy the unbelievers! When I was in college The Kiterunner was published and immediately added by the professor to the curriculum just for being the new controversial young adult book. It was just a bit rapey.
But now I've drifted into another appointment, but with RFK Jr. It's "Death to all those woke liberals that pushed vaccines and fact checked our concerns!" So it definitely still has the "F*** the left" element to it. And was always destined for a 52-48 confirmation.
I wonder if this happened during 200 to 330 CE? Like as the Christians were gaining power the Roman Senate passed a bunch of laws to curtail the spread of these new ideas that undermined the traditional status quo?

Jeez man Trump never had an agreeable Congress or Senate in term one now he does LOL.
If it is as dire as you and others profess his cabinet selections to be, he will lose that majority in 2026 and be handcuffed where 80-90% of the shit you and others are wringing your hands about will be overturned or never even legislated upon.
Simple as that.
If not then they are doing exactly what the majority of registered American voters approve of, shouldn't-that be our first bell weather test or we can listen to the peanut gallery in Wellington

Yeah IP NGL I hate any of this stuff that sets you off, I legitimately mean it, it's not worth it for me and I dig debating with you but this feels a lot like arguing
I'll try and refrain from posting political stuff if I can, LOL, and try to avoid commenting on yours when you post, hell I don't want to piss off anybody
I respect you too much you are intelligent witty and knowledgeable in lots of subjects... and you are more emotionally invested and there isn't anything wrong with that either, but we are at different places. I do hope you are getting balance in your life and aren't raging 24/7 life's too short
I don't know how the next 4 years go, all I can do is hope they go well, the same attitude I came to at some point during Biden's term.
All I can suggest is this is how change happens, slowly mostly stops and starts. Your hopes and dreams may be on hold for 4 years or so.
Appreciate the ground gained for the cause so far.
I'd much rather hear your knowledgeable deep thoughts on a myriad of other issues... and agree to disagree politically for now
Again you aren't alone by any stretch check out the Straight Dope Messageboard just don't tell them I sent you or you may get banned like I did.
30 PLUS YEARS on message boards since damn Compuserve and Prodigy days and it's the only one I got banned on, and dammit I have loved the Straight Dope since the 80s
I can't remember what set it off but it was much more tame than what I post here.

Any way rock on IP I will be reading ya.

I expect to see a decline in longevity in the United States, even as longevity rises in other countries. We're already behind the rest of the first world nations ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK62576/) and maternal mortality rate is high as well. More women die in childbirth in the United States than in most European countries ( https://www.commonwealthfund.org/publica...-countries)
Maternal mortality among non-Caucasians is high in red states and Texas is worst of all (gee, thanks, Gubn'r Goodhair) https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-...e-by-state
It will get higher still.
Not a good time to be a woman of childbearing age in the US.

Well the good news is the US will have around 200 billion more to work on our health care after we draw down our forces in Europe to face China

Clash Report
@clashreport
End of an era. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to European countries: I’m here today to directly and unambiguously express that stark strategic realities prevent the United States from being the primary guarantor of security in Europe. Realities prevent the U.S. from being its security guarantor, and to expect a drawdown of U.S. forces in the region. We face a peer competitor in the Communist Chinese with the capability and intent to threaten our homeland and core national interests in the Indo-Pacific. The U.S. is prioritizing deterring war with China in the Pacific. Recognizing the reality of scarcity and making the resourcing trade-offs to ensure deterrence does not fail. Deterrence cannot fail. European allies must lead from the front. United States will no longer tolerate an imbalanced relationship which encourages dependency. Rather, our relationship will prioritize empowering Europe to own responsibility for its own security.
