To make that crater, the ship would have been totally vaporized. Ether from the energy of the impact or the engines detonating. There would be nothing but dust in the air left.

Well that depends really. Was it operating within its own generated field - think shield, but a bit different. What was the power source and containment system. If alien then your argument is likely quite flawed to be honest.

I was speaking of what could have made the crater not from alien technology. It doesn't matter what the technology, the dirt would have to be moved and that takes a certain amount of energy to move it almost instantly as in a crash.

Now, the shallow angle or skipping seems more likely than making that hole from the reports. The hole was likely just there all the time.

This video/photos was touted on the Daily Mail as "UFO Crash and Alien Bodies".   The 'alien bodies being apparently the area on the right middle which shows a sort of arrow pointing upward.   Just below the arrow.   I have zoomed in and, sorry, I can't see it.   I really, really want to see it.   I believe the crash near Socorro, NM in 1947 really happened.   The coverup was too profound and far-reaching, for one thing, for it to have been covering up a normally "secret" operation.  The traced tentacles of government overreach are too documented, too many witnesses.

I would agree with others that it is pretty deep hole in the soil.
Where is that soil been put? Should be burnt piles of it around the crater. And if ufo then looks like it has collided with Earth edge in if we talk of an object being a disk.
I have seen other photos of a Roswell crash site years ago showing a craft all almost intact sitting on its belly...there were skid marks on the ground. i say it is a natural phenomenon, sort of soil erosion which is no mystery...may be void bubble under ground that collapsed centuries ago.))

I do believe in aliens, but I find it hard to believe Roswell. I am pretty sure it was a test weapon based on a weather ballon by us or another that went in the wrong direction and self deflated.

I don't buy it. Just an opinion, not fact - seems too easy and convenient.  

They lied about it, covered it up, harassed witnesses, and tried to explain it decades later with Project Mogul on "The Final Report", a project that happened much later... and it just magically appears in the archive? They got passports nailed down, why not alien pix too...

Feels like a plant. Something tossed into the pen to keep the puppies occupied. Just my opinion, we'll never get the reality of this from the source of the deception. It will always be another opportunity to further obfuscate the truth.

That impact hole in the ground reminded me of this pic below...it is from the Soviet era crashed craft retrieval.
I would imagine when craft is removed, it would leave similar shaped to Roswell hole in the ground.

that would be a pretty large heat shield.

what bothers me here with these is absence of dirt tossed around the crash site. Looks like it is there for a long time, frozen into the soil.
