Overpopulation And Malthusian Propaganda.
#31
This planet IS overpopulated. Just because you can look across the Serengeti and not see houses doesn't mean the most desirable areas on earth to live are not over populated. Natural ports, flat areas near bodies of water, metropolitan areas, islands, and any area where temps remain temperate year long are all overpopulated. Have you seen any city in South America? Its just people stacked on top of each other, same with India, and China/Japan. Anywhere where a human wants to live because it would be comfortable is over populated. California is an overpopulated shithole and everyone knows it. It shouldn't take me an hour to go from Fullerton to Cyprus. I'm all for setting up dome cities on Mars and giving people a free one way trip.

Perhaps it's a matter of where and how humans are clustering (and under what terms) that's the tell?

I know that living conditions in massed humans communities are mostly regrettable... and largely due to both entrenched and profitable behaviors.

But how such groups can 'manage' themselves seems highly emblematic of population distribution...

Mankind is largely overcrowded... but that is ultimately how things evolved from what is passed.

If we could create the ideal martian habitat... why not just live in them here?  Everybody wins.

The living conditions would be unacceptable on Earth. No one would live in a closet on recycled water amongst other things.

Think the old American West for example, but with high teck and no outdoors. "Outland" would be a good example for the average workers conditions.

Another example would be commercial saturation divers. They are close to similar working conditions but without the high pressure.

And yes, the cities are too crowded. But that is all according to plans.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?
