At least they had the decency to wear tights underneath their speedos, no chance of accidental 'slippage' and revealing butt crack or worse.

After all Superman, Batman, Robin, Classic Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Aquaman, and The Phantom would seem to testify to the fact. 

I wonder how many other superheroes have been depicted wearing their briefs on the outside of their pants?

You are right, I used the bat phone to call other superhero’s, the all told me the secret to wearing a speedo was over something like tights pants. Haha!

Scorn for dad bods is a type of toxic shaming similar to the way the Internet punishes women for not adhering to a certain standard.  It makes men feel there's something wrong with them instead of showing the REAL psychology behind it:
 * the dopamine kick from slapping a "zinger" on a picture of a stranger
 * the "virtue signaling" of "I'm not attracted to men, so I'm not gay."
 * fictional dominance ("I can laugh at this guy and he can't smack me for it."
 * and, of course, joking with the viewer... but it's kind of a toxic thing 

What it enforces (subtly) is the notion that only "pretty people" (as defined by society) are worthwhile.  Form over substance -- it doesn't matter if you're kind and generous and a family man and faithful and hardworking (traits I associate with dad bods, by the way)  -- what matters is that someone looking at you gets immediately jealous of your appearance and of the handsome women you attract.

Most of the people on this board never won prizes for beauty or are stunningly wealthy -- but are far more interesting to chat with than people who are "into" who looks attractive and who has the most money.
