The only people who could have ever thought this was O.K. and proper had to be connected to Big Farma or getting a kick back or direct monetary benefit from such a stupid policy IMO...There is a caveat that says if you want to get all 72 for your defenseless baby go ahead as I am sure out of ignorance there will be those who think "the more shots the merrier/safer !"

The change was from 17 to 11 targeted diseases, not from 72 to 11 injections.

Edited to add that the diseases removed from the list were, apparently: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, meningococcal disease, rotavirus, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Apparently, it's the viral diseases that can't be treated and which can be lethal to babies because of their developing immune systems which can lead to pneumonia, severe lung inflammation, and sepsis (which all can be treated).

Hepatitis B can cause serious liver damage, liver cancer and death in babies and young children if infected.

Hepatitis A is rare, but can lead to acute liver failure which can lead to death.

Viral meningococcal disease is less common but can lead to death in severe cases. Child mortality rate is 40% in the baby's first month of life.

Bacterial meningococcal disease in newborns can lead to severe disability, deafness and/or brain damage in 15-25% of cases, which can be treated.

I hope parents educate themselves and do the right thing for their babies and young children, especially if their children are vulnerable or compromised in any way and listen to their doctors and not to unqualified government officials who want to push their ideologies and beliefs on others.

What they seemed to have missed is a lot of those viral diseases that are fairly survivable, can cause nasty life long disabilities and health problems. Which will need more medical care in the long run.
