'No big deal" Just an atmospheric phenomenon' some outages green energy absolved
#41
The most logical cause seems to be with the new green tech not coupling up to the power grid properly in case of a brief outage or disturbance, like wind causing downed lines or even temperature variance? The 'black start' referenced above makes sense in regards to the need for conventional power plants not just 'green' energy.   Good catch on the 100% green energy day in Spain referenced previously.

Whatever the cause, they are still scrambling

Internet very spotty.
There are lines at the gas station because the pumps are not functioning right.

What's so strange about loosing cell service and the other services. Yes some have backup power, but the cell towers actually conect by internet. Unless the entire network is fully up, all you get is the cell tower. Insovidual devices can fail without this being a problem because most can be rerouted around. But if enough devices have no power then nothing works.

Gas pumps are internet connected for credit cards. Most business phones are not telephones now, just internet terminals specialized for phone simulation.

Also the backups only last a few hours in most cases.

Frequencies below 10Hz may cause anxiety, the lower the worse it gets. "Gravity waves" are always suspect, must be induction or are just fishy appearing out of nowhere, I don't trust them. Losing your mind over a power outage seems strange in any case, we have them all the time and just go on with life.

Some people are way too connected to technology for their own good. If they can't internet, their world has ended.

From what I read, it sounds like this was very similar to the cascading blackout we had in part of the Midwest USA and Ontario Canada about 10 years ago.
Took at least a couple of days to get everyone back online.
I remember it being pretty humid....happened in August IIRC.

This is more than a little power outage, and we are just discussing the topic. It's unusual because I can't remember a power outage EVER being described as caused by an atmospheric disturbance.

I Imagine quite a few Spaniards and Portuguese are losing their minds about now

Electricity has been restored to parts of Spain as a massive power blackout paralysed services across the Iberian peninsula
Portugal has said the outage appeared to be caused by issues from outside the country, while the national grid operator blamed extreme temperature changes in Spanish infrastructure
There is no evidence of a cyberattack, say experts, but the possibility has not been ruled out
UK flights to and from the Iberian Peninsula are braced for disruption

10.18pm GMT+1Power restored to half of Spain, says grid operatorSpain’s electricity grid operator has restored power to about half of the country after an outage brought the Iberian peninsula to a standstill, the Spanish prime minister said.
The and the rest should be restored by Tuesday, Pedro Sánchez added.
Authorities are yet to establish what had caused the blackout and are not ruling out any hypothesis, he said in a televised address.

10.10pm GMT+1Iberian peninsula’s day of chaosSupermarkets were closed, flights cancelled and streets gridlocked on a day of chaos across Spain and Portugal. Holidaymakers struggled to make it to airports and two-hour queues for buses formed in Lisbon as it became clear the power would not be back any time soon.
“Lisbon airport is closed and can only be accessed on foot,” Rachel Mortimer, a Times journalist, said. “Thousands of people are outside trying to stay in the shade, with no water and no information. Our flight has been delayed from 18.45 and British Airways is still insisting it will go ahead.
Rail passengers stranded after 9-hour power cutNearly nine hours after a blackout brought the Iberian peninsula to a standstill Monday, Spain’s transport minister said 11 trains remained stranded with passengers on board.
“Help is still needed for 11 trains. Power has been restored to the control centre of the Atocha [station in Madrid],” Óscar Puente wrote on X.

Quote:LOL. "Mysterious?" Hardly. Twelve days ago, Spain went full renewables for its grid. I guess the Green agenda didn't even last a fortnight before it crashed.

Just wait until the news services have to report that the sustainable agenda was nothing more than an expensive pack of lies for the gullible.

And you, the reader, get to see first-hand what news suppression looks like. The grid change and its obvious results were all over the X-Twitters, minutes after it happened. But here? LOL again...

Looks like they went full renewables mid-April,  and you'd think they could fall back to a more sane approach easily....to avoid something like this?
