No Kings 2.0

Is that you Mr. President?

If you look at the Prince Andrew thread, where I was rather critical of him, and said "off with his head", I haven't had a knock at the door yet.

Muppets gonna Muppet.....

We dare you to say that on Facebook and see what happens , not some esoteric forum no one checks :)
Or better yet, some MP of colour that you (coincidentally) happen to disagree with . . .

There are laws in regard to deporting illegal aliens. Trump's Executive order of January 20, 2025, for instance, applies to people from "recalcitrant countries" as a way of focussing primarily upon entrants who have come over the Southern border.

Trump has been quite focussed on very specific ethnicities, whom he has either criminalized and dehumanized as a group, or other ethnicities that he has universally lauded, in his rhetoric. The contrast clearly shows his racist bias.

Quote:They have no legal protections to keep them here.

They do have legal rights under US law even if they are from other countries, and have entered the country illegally or overstayed a visa.

I am fairly sure that there are no laws specifically around MAGA aligned groups. Are you suggesting they be deported on that basis, perhaps?

Quote:They are not shipped to concentration camps.

Definition: 'concentration camp'
{noun}
1. A camp where persons are confined, usually without hearings and typically under harsh conditions, often as a result of their membership in a group the government has identified as suspect.
2. A place or situation characterized by extremely harsh conditions.
3. A camp where large numbers of persons—such as political prisoners, prisoners of war, refugees—are detained for the purpose of concentrating them in one place.

Illegals are illegals .. no matter what color they come in.
They are rightfully being arrested and deported ... as per THE LAW.

They are briefly held in custody for a few days to be processed.

Enforcing the law is not 'authoritarian'.    It is simply enforcing the law.
And in this case, it's a great law to enforce.

You just previously said they were not covered by the law. Have some consistency, please!

It happens like this:
- Someone is of a particular ethnic group and they are interrogated in a sweep going on in a particular location.
- If they cannot, on the spot, furnish proof of citizenship, or the arresting officer believes that social security cards, drivers licenses, etc are forged. They are then classified, online, in the arrest warrant, as an illegal.
- The classification is based entirely upon a situational absence of documentation or absence of corroboration (like when someone is dragged from their home in their pyjamas and therefore doesn't have their wallet on them, and/or when the officer misspells their name and so cannot find them on the system, for example).

The fact that there is no rigorous validation process is highlighted by the numbers of legal US citizens who have been deported.

It was fair and accurate in 2020 when Biden won.
It was fair and accurate in 2024 when Trump won.
I'm sure there was some small irregularities.
There always is.
But no big conspiracy that skewed the outcome.
The right has to accept that Trump lost in 2020.
The left has to accept that Harris lost in 2024.
That's reality.

In this case they say (in the paper) about 1,000 people showed up almost on the dot.  I didn't see any protestors (?) but I don't usually go down the main street on Saturdays.
*shrug*

3rd biggest protest in US history. The 4th biggest was also a 'No Kings' protest.

Perhaps you should wake up and smell the ($3 a cup) coffee.

Just sayin'.

Quote:New Zealand has international obligations to prevent and combat people smuggling by land, sea and air. New Zealand is a party to the United Nations Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air (the Migrant Smuggling Protocol).
A mass arrival is defined as a group of more than 30 people who arrive in New Zealand together without permission, generally by sea. A mass arrival often involves vulnerable people who are in search of safety or have been targeted by people smugglers.
While there has not yet been a mass arrival to New Zealand’s shores, there has in many other countries. We have prepared, and continue to do so, to ensure we can effectively manage and respond to the complex challenges of a mass arrival by sea.
The message to anyone contemplating an illegal maritime journey is simple, any attempt to reach New Zealand will put your life and the lives of your family members at great risk. There is every chance you will not make it to New Zealand.
People smugglers knowingly mislead and are not to be trusted. They will take people’s money and not deliver on their promises. People wishing to come to New Zealand should do so through legal channels.
People travelling to New Zealand illegally may be detained on arrival. New Zealand law gives Immigration New Zealand (INZ) the ability to detain people being smuggled into New Zealand for up to six months, which can be extended for up to 28 days at a time.
Permanent residence may also not be an option for anyone travelling to New Zealand illegally by sea. There is a requirement to wait three years for a refugee claim to be reassessed before being able to apply for permanent residence. And even after obtaining residence you cannot sponsor extended family to join in New Zealand.
People smuggling is a serious criminal offence. In New Zealand, people smuggling is punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment and/or a $500,000 fine. We will investigate and pursue those who seek to make a profit from vulnerable migrants.

Mass arrivals to New Zealand :: Immigration New Zealand

We should have an immigration policy like New Zealand's.
