It's not off topic to point out that what you are complaining about for the USA is indeed happening around the world. And the 'No Kings' protests are going on around the world. This isn't just an American issue.

There are lots of old laws that are crap.

In the 17th century Cromwell made it illegal to eat mince pies on Christmas day. Technically it's still law.

I gave the list a few pages back.
No Kings/No Tyrants protests.
Canada, UK, all across Europe, etc.
People protesting corruption and over reach and all sorts of crap,
both real and imagined, going on in their countries.

So does anyone else think that Donald Trump might actually make a good King? A uniquely American King. Perhaps not a "King", per se; maybe more of a Reichmaskottchen. Don't give him any power of course—God forbid!—but wouldn't it be fun? He could do all the crazy outrageous buffoonery that he is so talented at, making the left happy that he doesn't actually have any real power, while the more serious right-wing runs the country. His tastelessness would be America's tastelessness writ large. Would that be okay with everyone? Maybe we should suggest it after his term is up.
