Good riddance to bad rubbish.

He's announced that he is resigning as the MP for Clacton, but it's not a resignation from politics.

Unfortunately, he's not retiring outright or quitting Reform.

I would be surprised if he could point to Clacton on a map. 

From what im led to believe, he certainly doesn't visit the place very often. 

The fact that he's under pressure over questions about the financial support he received.

And whether it should have been declared probably played its part.

He's going to stand in the by election.

He won Clacton in the 2024 general election with 46% of the vote.

But i don't think he's been seen much since. 

As some of his constituents have clearly stated.

Then there's the fact that he's done little to nothing regarding better access to GP and the NHS.

Same with the housing and mass regeneration promised...

Will they vote for him again? 

Because he's not been exactly what some people would call a traditional constituency MP.

And a by-election can behave differently from a general.

Reminds me of Nicola Sturgeon and the way she treated her own constituency of Govanhill.

Whilst she was too busy playing First Minister, now i come to think about it...

I suppose he's betting that his personal brand as Reform leader is stronger than the locals' dissatisfaction.

And he might be right because of this sort of mentality...

I wonder who Rupert Lowe would put forward as a candidate in Clacton? 

I don't see him giving up or risking his own seat to challenge Farage in Clacton.
 
If I had to guess, it would need to be somebody with local roots.

Somebody capable of attracting the disillusioned Reform voters.

Without alienating the traditional Tories...

It must be a new political rhetoric tactic and/or manipulation tactic where politicians are saying everyone else is stupid if they follow a political ideology that does not align with theirs. Trump was just doing it during his recent press interview. What a load of BS.
