Nigal Farage Stands Down As MP To Trigger By-Election

Most political abuse in the UK happens online.

And it comes from different ideological directions.

Rarely involving terrorism.

Yes, Islamist terrorism has been the UK's largest terrorist threat by MI5's metrics for years.

Two Gulf wars and Afghanistan is apt to draw some ire.

But that doesn't prove Islamist extremists are driving most threats against MPs.

It's like responding to a discussion about shoplifting by posting murder statistics.

Same country, different crime.

You are right but if your government is not doing enough counterterrorism within that community, how does anyone know the true extent of it?

"No, there is no evidence that Islamic terrorists are specifically targeting female politicians in the UK; instead, female MPs and politicians from minority backgrounds are disproportionately targeted by far-right extremists and face a high volume of sexualized and racially charged abuse.
  • Disproportionate Targeting: Security minister Dan Jarvis and data from the Metropolitan Police indicate that women and ethnic minority representatives report the highest volumes of abuse, including overtly sexualized threats, creating a "chilling effect" on women in public life.
  • Nature of Threats: Labour MP Jess Phillips reported receiving over 600 rape threats in a single night, while other politicians describe constant harassment from far-right groups and online ecosystems that amplify extreme content.
  • Political Violence Context: While the 2021 murder of MP David Amess was carried out by an individual inspired by Islamic State, the broader surge in political violence since 2016 involves disparate ideologies, including far-right extremism (responsible for the murder of MP Jo Cox in 2016).
  • Recent Incidents: Recent counter-terrorism operations have focused on far-right plots, such as the foiled attack on the UK Ijtima Islamic gathering and the investigation into the murder of populist politician Ann Widdecombe, highlighting that the primary extremist threat to elected officials currently stems from right-wing ideologies rather than Islamist terrorism. ETA:

Farage states that this is the first time authorities bothered to look into an online threat against him.

"Mr Farage had previously told The Telegraph: “This is the first time the police have ever proactively acted on a social media post and I hope they are looking at the other three or four hundred similar posts from this year alone.""

"The suspect arrested by police is understood to have described himself as a terrorist on social media, according to the Daily Mail."

And I may have been on the wrong track thinking only Islamic extremists want to target female politicians for reasons we all know.

Working men delivering products and running taxis.

Try having a conversation with one of them.

What's the bet they don't bite and probably sound just like you?

I would welcome them also if they were delivering my stuff and taking me places i wish to go.

How pray tell is that taking over or not integrating?

For the thousandth time....................... I am absolutely fine with the odd Muslim here and there. Most are good people, actually want to work as you state. I'm only concerned that we are going to head towards a low level civil war Bosnia / Kosovo style with the effect of mass migration on politics combined with the close down of factory north of Birmingham. Too much too soon. I'm not racist, to me Pakistani's have got more right to be here than Polish, they are part of our Empire, Commonwealth, history, unlike the Slavic invaders.

Orby I don't know any Muslims who dont work, to be honest.

Their work ethic is superior to a lot of white people that i know.

As to you not being racist, you just called them "P#k#'s" ffs.

Thats about as racist as it gets!

And again with this civil war bullsh#t.

Please, just tell me who you are going to fight?

Think about that one and get back to me.

I mean, if you really wish to see bloody civil war on our streets, and all the immigrants, or those you deem to be not quite British enouth, rounded up and dealt with violently, say so...

Inquiring minds and all that jazz... Lol

It's just abreviation. Themselves call themselves that. No harm whatsoever.

On who I'll be fighting for, I won't be. There is a low level civil war going on right now in Britain's cities. Can't bear the Far Right or the islamic fundaMentalists. I'm in the stix far away from all the goings on. I talk to birds. Trees. I refuse to fight for any side. As the civil war develops I will only defend my locality from attacks, indeed my own house and yard will be defended. As long as 'they' keep off my yard then I'll let them kill each other. I've got 100's of litres of water and 190 ish tins of herring fillets from Lidl so can survive quite some time. Then I'm going to make my way to Western Cape in South Africa and survive out there' til it all settles down. If it doesn't I'll scoot up north towards Namibia in a new Great Trek and settle somewhere on the coast, probably Swakopmund. That will be as far away from the crazies as necessary and they have a decent police force in Namibia who don't mess around. I will assess things from there and catch fish and grill them on the beach. Hopefully I'll have some savings left, but that's debatable.

It's against the TnC of the site.

It is a highly offensive and racist comment.

Trying to give you a hint here buddy...

You do realise it's not the Muslims you would be protecting your house from.

They are not the ones who will go on a racist rampage across the nation.

Gammon, on the other hand, yip, thats who you would be forced to defend against...

Let that one sink in.

That's not a problem and I do acknoweledge that. Just amended things on that post. I would at the same time not refer to us as white people. In comparing them to us. I've met certain people from pakistani background that are as white as any of us. Just being respectful here mate. Those Pakistanis are a British construct and amalgamation of various tribes. Balochi's, Pathans, Kashmiri, Lackhs, etc etc they come in all shades just like us.

I like Asian's. Just not when they get all ISIS, AQ etc. They do a great job over here. Indeed I'd swap 3 million so called Anglos on benefits for 3 million of theirs and watch my taxes drop for sure  Lol

I don't think anyone holds much with the crazy fundamentalist sorts...

But they are few and far between, just like our own hardcore religious lunatics.

People are just people, Orby, and most of them just want to get on with their day without the hassle.

LOL The opening statement ... "...politics is not a joke..."...LOL

It does appear that the level of security one receives is directly related to which party one is a part.

"Jenrick said: "Frankly I find it astonishing that, just a short period after he was elected to Parliament, the authorities, the government, chose to massively downgrade his security".
"It shouldn't have taken the death of Ann Widdecombe for Nigel Farage to be given a meeting with the relevant Home Office committee - that really is a dereliction of duty, and it's ultimately the home secretary who makes that decision."

He added: "I do question whether this would have happened to someone with different political views."

Asked about Jenrick's comments, the prime minister's spokeswoman said: "The PM is clear no politician should be targeted or face abuse regardless of their views.""

And what about Prince Harry's security?
