It starts with a sentence that is wrong (and has a spelling error, which is never good on something done by a profession): "A number of countries have canceled their New Year's Eve celebrations this year for a wide range of reasons."
Then they give a list of cities, not countries, that cancelled the celebrations, as those decisions are local and not nation wide, except for Monaco, which is a city and a country but did not cancel any celebrations, only said they would enforce the rules.
Sidney didn't cancel the celebrations, only the celebrations on Bondi beach were cancelled.
Tokyo has cancelled their events in the last five years or so, so it's not a specific thing for the 2025/2026 event.
