Is this where we "thank" the religion of peace?
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

As of two hours ago Sydney fireworks were still on, and they were urging people to attend. They said police will be out in massive numbers to guard them. Bondi Beach cancelled their events, but Sydney is still on.
https://news.sky.com/story/massive-numbe...s-13488128 Shibuya (Tokyo) has cancelled their event since covid. Paris cancelled a concert that was planned but will still have fireworks.

If you think for a second that any government or too big to fail organization/corporation as a whole cares about offending any singular group of people I believe you are mistaken and that its used as a scapegoat for not having to spend your tax dollars on you. If it is not a living entity it does not have the capacity to feel shamed by offending. The world is ran by enormously powerful clandestine organizations and maximizing profits across the board is always the game and thats why it is called the machine. Cold and calculating. Whether it is ran by living entities is irrelevant BECAUSE the ones at the top are there because they put business *the machine* first instead of how anything feels even their own. Nature of the beast.

I just got up and turned the local news on. Apparently Sydney had the usual fireworks last night (AU time). They were showing it on CBS.

Understandable in a way, but if we all succumb to those fears then the radicals win. Wait what?! it’s almost like the same people that are shoving immigration down the throats of the West demanding you enjoy the the loss of your national sovereignty and then also claim if you bitch about these religious violent extremists harming you or your family makes you a racist….. are also the same people that are cancelling civilized celebrations because of same religious violent extremists potential to harm you and your family. How odd.

We don't go out on New Years eve anymore, and even when the wife did go out, we never went to all the fancy fireworks or ball drop stuff. We used to just go out to the bars until midnight to watch all the drunks. But that got old, just like us.
We did not go see the fireworks last winter in Negaunee at the Heikki Lunta festival. That is around the first week of February. It's just too cold to be out watching fireworks if you are not drinking in February. We might go to the breakfast and get some Cudighis though at places doing that for the festival. A lot of people go watch the ball drop in Marquette...sounds kind of boring to me, and too cold...I would rather watch the ball drop on TV....in fact, we are usually just online chatting now in our nice warm home or in bed going to sleep at midnight now. We are in the over seventy group I guess. Seems kind of like some big cities all of a sudden that these big events cause a lot of accidents and fights and attract lots of chaotic people to them. Maybe it is because the bad people are growing in numbers these days because the police are not enforcing laws to keep people as safe anymore, or the bad people know they won't sit in jail very long anymore so they do what they want to do.

I learned to check the christmas tree for hornet nests after that. The Hornets didn't mind having a short winter though, and we didn't get stung. I know why they used to have charlie brown trees years ago, it is hard to find a nest in a bushy tree, and it doesn't need to be a big nest to have a few hornets flying around. Christmas can be an exciting holiday if you have a hornets nest. For the last four years all we put up is a little two foot artificial tree on a table. Big enough to put all the presents under if you give cards with cash in them. |
