A big screw-up happened when an Amazon New Glenn rocket launched into space to deploy some cell satellites into orbit.

The Satellites were sent off into the wrong orbit and is a failure!!

New Glenn launch deploys AST Bluebird 7 satellites into wrong orbit
Quote:The New Glenn rocket was due to help deliver to orbit broadband network satellites for AST SpaceMobile, a cellular broadband service provider. The BlueBird 7 satellite, with communication arrays as large as 2,400 square feet, would have been the largest satellites ever commercially deployed in low-Earth orbit, AST SpaceMobile said in a press release.

But the upper stage that flies in orbit using two of Blue Origin's BE-3U engines designed for the vacuum of space deployed the satellites to the wrong orbit. As a result, AST SpaceMobile said in a statement that the company would de-orbit the satellites.

I suppose the insurance company will not be happy. Smile

I can't see the insurance paying for this because I'd classify it as negligence somewhere along the line, or negligence along all lines. Negligence can be argued in court as not implementing reasonable care and/or to not think about foreseeable outcomes. Maybe it will end up being a Human Resource Department failure in hiring the wrong people (?)

Maybe all the sub contractors and individual "professional PC's" insurance ends up splitting the losses.   Duh

This is why I wish ASTS stuck with Space X. Though, their technology will be the biggest competitor to Starlink Mobile services.

ASTS is my biggest holding, so I wasn’t thrilled with the news. Insurance money or not, it takes time to make these satellites.

Maybe all insurance companies will be fighting to not pay anything for this fiasco.
