Mom was a very free-spirited BC west coast hippie type (think backpacking across Canada to attend Woodstock with her toddler type)

For Christmas? I got one of those suitcase record players with the following albums.
-Elton John’s Greatest Hits
-Neil Diamond Gold
-Alice Cooper Welcome to my Nightmare
-Iron Butterfly Inna Gadda Davida
-Kiss (debut album with their faces and KISS in diamonds on the cover)

You want to talk about imprint music. I didn’t even hear country music until I was almost a teenager.

I have an appreciation for all types of music, but those albums have stuck with me forever.

Btw, I still have them all, the originals. Unfortunately I don’t have a turntable to play them on anymore. Hmm.

I too have over a hundred albums... all old, and all wanting to be played... 

But no turntable... or at least no turntable with a needle I trust not to destroy the tracks...

It is sad... none of them are less than 30 years old.  A few of them are 78 RPM classic music and much older (60-70 years.)

Pop, classic, various flavors of rock, comedy albums no one wants anymore (Cosby, Steve Martin, Carlin, Cheech and Chong...)

Some day, I suppose... some day.

Damn Max, I had forgotten about all the 78’s I had inherited as well!!

I was just talking to my daughter and she said that she thinks that my whole stereo system is still in the basement of the house I sold to my sister, with all of those albums!!

Perhaps when I get back from this arctic job I’ll have to drop in and check it out!

I have no idea where it will all go in the lake cabin, but maybe I can ship it down south? Introduce the Mexican family and friends to some “New” music!!

I don't know if this memory has a place here... I expect to be made fun of...

but I remember being mesmerized by this woman's song....

Karen Carpenter was pretty popular when I was a kid. This song imprinted on me and the intro actually haunted me for a long time because I'd have it in my head but didn't know where it came from. Once the internet came around it didn't take long for me to find out that it was Superstar by the Carpenters. That intro when I'd have it stuck in my head had a really intense melancholy feel to it and really seem to go very deep in some way:

Lots of Italian 1960s songs for which I can't find videos with English subs, some Beatles songs, but...

The first song I ever learned by heart and that I still sing to myself regularly, especially after I meet unbelievably stupid people...



Oh, and nearly forgot... 

Talk about imprinting heard this on Fargo Season 3 and had to search for it as soon as the episode was over, and still listen to it years later for the beat the tempo and the harmonica...

The only Italian pop song I know...

Yes, Celentano was a family favourite. As he was a funny actor as well, his movies featured many of his songs. 

You may also like Zucchero, who was known outside Italy as well. I saw him support Eric Clapton at The Royal Albert Hall in London around 1987/88.
