Watched "Stand By Me" last night.

A classic, and one of the best imho.   Thumbup
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

an older one, for the conspiracy minded

'Executive Action'
a group of executives, presumably in the oil business, decide to assassinate JFK.
lots of similarities to the Oliver Stone JFK movie

one note; all fictitious characters in the first half then they start showing Oswald and Ruby.  kind of uneven.

(Will Geer, aka Grandpa Walton, is one of the conspirators.  'Well sometimes these things need to be done, but I don't like it.')

I loved Bab 5.

I thought the ending of the Final Countdown
Was a bit of a cop out.

But a similar theme is in Jon Birmingham's Axis of Time books which I heartily recommend.
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope.  Nothing...

This Japanese film is recommended for students of film, it supposedly is a 'must see' for film buffs for it's artistic shots and surreal insanity (?) and is free on YouTube.

A warning though, if anyone is sensitive to sweat and sand mixed together or anything sand on skin, mouth or the body then this film is not for you. Also they used a sort of screeching suspenseful long drawn out sound track which can jar the nerves, but I just turned the volume say down and then I could withstand it.

I don't want to say it's a really strange weird film because I've watched other films from this director and so I was already 'seasoned', so to speak for his film style.

It's a slow moving film but the artistic shots make up for that and if you understand a little of Japanese history and culture the film makes sense in many aspects of the human condition. It is interesting watching how the sand behaves as water does.

"Woman in the Dunes" (1964)

"The only journey is the one within."
