Instead we get public hype on the white House lawn, and this spectacle plays out in the news as expected.
As long as the majority of the countries bow to the pressure and make a deal, this will be a minor blip.
I don't know but Im reading over and over from different sources, it would be advantageous if the FED lowered interest rates which may or may not occur
Right or wrong Trump was also trying to prove a point, we have had an unbalanced trade for a long time.
Lastly, Trump is negotiating from a position of strength the tariffs are a starting point now each country can come to Trump with proposals but likely most will just eat it so they can continue to tap into Uncle Sam's wallet. The others as we have already seen
can negotiate a more layered and complex deal.
So those in Trump's tariff team didn't have to prepare 167 different proposals for all the tariffed countries, they only had/have to work on those who approached America for modifications

Bullying.
Trump and his team, like his acolytes, have zero understanding of World trade and economics.
It's very sad to watch this crap unfold.

As for reaching out one-by-one...it would take far longer to do.
What the news usually fails to remind us:
Trump is trying to level the playing field on a very lopsided tariff field.

No doubt the tariffs need to be straightened out. From what I've seen it looks like some of the math used to calculate what we are being charged is a little fuzzy, but that will be worked out with negotiations.
I was just pointing out Trumps showmanship coupled with the news needing to ad d drama creates more chaos.
As far as it being easier to implement tariffs, and then negotiate a deal vs the other way around? It sounds like splitting hairs.
From what Im seeing it looks like Trump is using the implementation of tariffs to send the message that its time to make a deal. He could have done that in less dramatic ways.
