NEW: Senator John Kennedy just OBLITERATED critics of Trump’s China trade deal, dropping one of the most savage lines of the year. To the critics, he said, “I’m not saying you’re the dumbest person in the world—but you better hope the dumbest person in the world doesn’t die.” “The Chinese Communist Party are thieves. They steal with both hands. They’ll steal your socks without taking off your shoes,” Kennedy said. Then came the history lesson: “We let them into the World Trade Organization on December 11 of 2001. They started cheating December 12, and Trump was the first president—he did this in the first term—to ever stand up to China and say, stop the stealing. And now he’s doubled down, and it’s working.” — Before Trump acted, China’s average tariff on U.S. goods was over 20%. Now it’s down to 10%. U.S. tariffs on China? Up from 20% to 30%. That's a 20-point swing in America’s favor. Trump’s latest trade win proves one thing: he’s the only president who ever made China pay. This isn’t just policy—it’s payback.

Once again, for those who don't read the whole thread, as it's been posted before
The average cost of tariffs at 30% if they were in place for 12 months for the average American household is between
between $900-$1200 bucks a year, thats 100 bucks a month FFS how little does a Barrister make?
Combined with Trump's prescription savings in my household, we will have an extra $175 a month easily, which helps during summer commissions
Thats all if they remained at 30% for the year, are you still with me?
They did not, as Kennedy pointed out, Chinese tariffs were reduced to 10%,
So let's see if I can explain the maths to you, you might need to take off your socks and shoes first
If 30% Chinese tariffs were $900 a YEAR, what would 10% of the total Chinese tariffs be?
psst it's 300 BTW currently 300 bucks a year divide by 4 for the next 90 days Chinese tariffs would have cost 25 bucks a month
Furthermore, as Kennedy stated, America was paying 20% tariffs before Trump's Terrible Tariff plan was even introduced, so, ergo, for the next 90 days, Americans are paying 10% on average less on Chinese tariffs than they were before.
Once the agreements are finalized will know exactly, but it likely won't be 30% or even 20% if we get 10% tariffs on average, thats 10% less than the last 4-5 years. If we believe Senator Kennedy
I'll be surprised if consumer goods and appliances, etc, get hit at all.

Blimey. Any interaction with you turns distinctly unpleasant very quickly.
I'm done with your personal attacks.
Speak to me in real life like that, rather from behind your rather well worn keyboard, and you might get a rude awakening.
Choose another mark. I'm bored with this.
If you want to have a civil discussion, I'm all ears.
But, I don't suffer fools gladly.

Again you take this shit way to seriously, you can dish out insults but if you get them back....
Irony is, I found the "ignore" button weeks ago, if you didn't respond to my posts, I wouldn't have interacted with you at all.

$1.2 TRILLION with a T, it's like a traveling salesman coming home with the mother lode. I rolled my eyes a bit when I saw him dancing at the base, but 1.2 trillion, no wonder he is dancing. Wonder if he gets 10% like the big guy.

Uncle Sam is pushing AI fast and furious, and the Middle East is lapping it up, but again thier finances and less restrictive atmosphere could foster some unseen innovations and uses
US and UAE finalise technology framework agreement
https://www.commerce.gov/news/press-rele...ooperation
Quote:UAE/US Framework on Advanced Technology CooperationFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday, May 15, 2025
Office of Public Affairs
[email protected]The governments of the United Arab Emirates and the United States have agreed to establish the "US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership" framework to further bolster cooperation around critical technologies and ensure the protection of such technologies based on a set of joint commitments.
The US will facilitate deeper technology cooperation with the UAE, including the launch of a 1GW AI data center, part of a planned 5GW UAE-US artificial intelligence technology cluster in Abu Dhabi to support regional computation demand, while meeting robust US security standards and other efforts to responsibly deploy AI infrastructure, both in the UAE and globally.
As part of the UAE investment program in digital infrastructure in the US, the UAE and the US governments will work together to make more efficient the process of inward investments into the United States by UAE Investment Funds.
Within 30 days of the agreement, the UAE and the US will establish a working group to implement, monitor and assess progress on the above.

Looks like Trump does not want to negotiate tariffs after all.
Politico
Quote:Trump said that while “150 countries” were seeking to make deals with the U.S., it was “not possible to meet the number of people that want to see us.”
Instead, Trump said U.S. trading partners should expect individual letters from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick “at a certain point over the next two to three weeks,” in which they would be “telling people what they will be paying to do business in the United States.”
