I apologize for the large paste but it's more cohesive to put most if it here. The man has a history of working closely with the political left on some projects.  There are a few articles about him.  Nothing that screams he was a loose cannon that I can find, in fact, just the opposite.  I'm not sure what caused him to snap but I don't think he is done.  I also have to wonder if Boelter wasn't going to go to the 'anti kings' protest and shoot some people.

Authorities said they're still investigating if Boelter knew the victims in Saturday's shootings: State Rep. Melissa Hortman and State Sen. John Hoffman. But Boelter did serve on a state board alongside Hoffman.
***
Boelter’s biography on that site said he's been "involved with security situations in Eastern Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East, including the West Bank, Southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip."

"He brings a great security aspect forged by many on the ground experiences combined with training by both private security firms and by people in the U.S. Military," the biography said, adding that he's "focused all this experience" to make sure Praetorian Guard "covers the needs you have to keep your family and property safe."

The security firm's site says they "only offer armed security," and that they use "the same make and model of vehicles that many police departments use in the U.S."

Boelter’s role as a local businessman appeared to help build inroads into state politics. In 2016, Boelter was appointed to the Minnesota Governor’s Workforce Development Board, which is tasked with analyzing and recommending policy to the governor and legislature on workforce and resources. Boelter’s appointment as a private sector representative from then-Gov. Mark Dayton came due to the "special trust and confidence" he had earned in his "integrity, judgment, and ability," according to his official notice of appointment. Boelter was reappointed in 2019 by Walz.

Dozens of Minnesota Democrats were on a target list written by the gunman, according to law enforcement sources.

Those on the list included Gov. Tim Walz, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, U.S. Sen. Tina Smith and state Attorney General Keith Ellison, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the matter.

Police said the list -- which was retrieved from the suspect’s vehicle -- also named Hortman and Hoffman. Both victims are Democrats and Hortman was formerly the Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The shooter’s list of potential targets also included the names of abortion providers and pro-choice activists, several sources told ABC News. Many of the Democratic lawmakers on the list have been outspoken about pro-choice policy positions, two sources said.

Just because someone belongs to a specific party doesn't necessarily mean they agree with all the agendas within that party. And I'm not saying he belonged to that party but everything I've read seems to point he was involved with the party and some of their work.

It's terrible to have loss of life to such violence and my thoughts and prayers are for those who have been hurt in this situation.  As much as I disagree with certain parties and their ideology, nothing should come between compassion and caring of our fellow people.  It's a shame that politics has caused such a division in loving each other.

Couple quotes:

From NYT:
Quote:"Mr. Boelter has delivered several sermons at a church in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In a video of one that was posted online, he appeared to criticize gay and transgender people.
“There’s people, especially in America, they don’t know what sex they are,” he said. “They don’t know their sexual orientation, they’re confused. The enemy has gotten so far into their mind and their soul.”
In the sermon, he said he had given his life to Jesus as a teenager and had been blessed with five children.

A text he sent his room mates:
Quote: I love you guys. I’ve made some choices and you guys don’t know anything about this, but I’m going to be gone for a while. I’ll be dead shortly. So I just want to let you know that I love you guys both. And wish it hand’s gone this way. I don’t want to say anything more, and implicate you in any way because you guys don’t know anything about this, but I love you guys and I’m sorry for all the trouble this has caused.

I live in Minnesota and I have many questions.

How is it that a guy in a rubber mask shows up at someone's door, shoots two people, leaves, and then gets caught after shooting two more, gets into a gun battle with police, re enters the home, and magically disappears.

A man whose posture, and build do not match the masked man on camera. Because it is clearly a mask.

Crosses town undetected, goes to a rental property he has a room at, texts a buddy, tells him he is going to be dead soon. The rental place is ransacked by the cops hours later, the room mate has some strange and conflicting things to say as if being told what to say to the news media.

The governor of Minnesota has the audacity before anything is known, to blame it on a politically motivated attack by right wing types when the man in question was a Tim Walz appointee. A man who by all accounts and associations was very Left Wing.

I am trying to sort out who would have benefitted from this event. Because the murderer or murderers in question are never going to live to tell the truth of things.

I don't care who he voted for. He's a murderer at large.

Agree both side sides have extremists or just seemingly normal people who lose their shit.

The fact that he has a connection to Walz, though, this isn't some lone nutter

The last time a government official or contractor killed such a high-up official was Dan White, who shot Harvey Milk

It's that extra layer, an extra connection that should make even the most casual conspiracy theorist's Spidey senses tingle? Did he become disgruntled over time, or did he just snap

My mind's full of scenarios. Did a foreign or domestic entity get to him?

Politicians will speak in whatever tone that will resonate with the most likely voters.

These are mostly a lawyer's, businessperson's, or activist veneer loosely glued over a shyster used car salesman foundation.

Very few leaders of character or moral fiber to unite us, so they pitch division.

Since both have ascended to the Presidency and come into some control over all 3 branches, they will not throw out this new aspect of political terraforming.

MAGA has been left for dead so much that Im pretty sure Rasputin would have been MAGA

The progressive left is just replacing one authoritarian-based system with thier particular flavor of authoritarian system

Trump broke from the Republican Party, while the progressive left broke from the traditional moderate Democrats

Both sides were born from a separation of their historical alliances.

Mixed with the demographic shift from a "Boomer" centric population to a younger base, required political dogma delivered with more emotion, fire, and zest, more sauce if you will

more cowbell...

Politics and politicians were never supposed to be pop-culture stars; the most effective governments operate quietly and efficiently in the background, solving problems while avoiding intruding on the GP's daily lives

We elect representatives, so the rest of us don't have to be concerned about governance daily.

With social media, the public takes politics way too seriously.

There's no reason the Minnesota Speaker had to feel so threatened as she sounded in the interview when she voted contrary to the party line.

How long can this go on at such a high temperature? Or is this just the new normal?
