High percentage of the global population has been infected, but not homogenouesly distributed. IIRC, 80% of cats population is infected.
But as far as humanity goes in regards to Toxy, its effects seems negligible. However, it can be deadly for the immunosuppressed.
I wouldn’t say its effects are negligible, IMO.

I have pondered the parasite thing and viruses, but not pertaining to the origin of my own consciousness, guess it depends on who's reading and who's typing. A matter of perception.
I take it you are making references to the NHI here, parasitic or virus like is the wrong things to think about. Contact is arguably been beneficial and has been occurring along time as you pointed at. The hitchhiker effect is strange however and that is viral behavior.
I could argue we are all memes, viruses and parasites. Something along the lines of nobody ever had a an original thought that didn't come from...
Yes, I think symbiote and symbiosis angle is equally valid as the parasite angle.
I chose the parasite because there are papers about our friend Toxy with evidence of 'mind control' capabilities. Put in quotes because it is not as clear cut, but data seems to suggest such happening in rodents. Then, one could wonder if such influences could be more common in the thinking/sensory processes of humans.
I definitely don't want to demonize the other, if such other is 'there'.
I got the fractals and morphic resonance angle from Eric Ouellet book "Illuminations : The UFO Experience as a Parapsychological Event", whereas he uses such concept to find a correlation between social tension and UFO waves in Canada. In the previous chapters, he was using the model of pragmatic information (MPI). Gotta give credit where credit is due.
As far as the apple tree is concerned, there's probably not much difference between a worm and a human...

Well, for what its worth, I didn't make extensive research on the topic of Toxoplasmosis, I referred to it mainly because of its effect on rats. I do think the parasite itself deserves a thread about it, and isn't enough discussed.
Consequently, I don't know about any link between the parasite and menstrual cycles.

I like this bit "correlation between social tension and UFO waves", makes sense
'mind control' is easy
"I definitely don't want to demonize the other, if such other is 'there'."
good idea

Always a challenge to figure out which things connect to which in the body. Way beyond my level of technical expertise.
I think I’m picking up that this parasite is hosted by sexual activity.
Part of a greater intelligence than just these individual microscopic leeches or screwballs.
Over time I think it’s accumulative nature would be the cause of diseases such as heart failure and cancer, just to name a couple.

I think they do mention possible re-infection through dormant cystoids in some papers.
Fractal model of consciousness in compounds seems worth researching in my opinion. Morphic resonance is also fascinating, coupled with biosemiotic, there might be the begining of a more 'general' picture of consciousness, or not. Dunno.
I agree with accumulative factor which increase influencial output value, in whatever its trying to influence.
And just like the hypothetical critter that I refer in the OP, I'd venture to guess it wants to survive, seek conservatism as a system, or something, like Toxy.

Yeah, if I remember right, it makes cat women more attractive, and makes guys more testosterone driven and more apt to be aggressive because of the extra testosterone. It has been quite a few years since I researched this parasite and I often wonder if some people I know have this. Personally, I have low testosterone but still within the normal limit. I had a doctor prescribe shots years ago because I was getting tired, after four months, I quit them because it was effecting my behavior and I did not like it.
I would guess that some people might wind up getting autoimmune reactions if they had this infestation and the body couldn't rid itself of it. I would also guess that doctors would not even try to diagnose this because a lot of symptoms people get from it makes a lot of money for the medical industry when they get it. I have never knew anyone who got treated for this condition, yet I know lots of people who have symptoms of the disease and are on long term medicines when those symptoms might just go away with antiparasitics for a while.
The info on some sites says it is asymptomatic, but if you dig into it, there seem to be lots of common chronic symptoms people have that could be related to this infection in their bodies.
I bet doctors would put a person on anti-psychotics or anti-anxiety meds if they asked the doctor if they might have this parasite.

Quote:- Studies in cell cultures indicate that both valproic acid and its sodium salt (valproate sodium) can inhibit the replication of Toxoplasma gondii.
- Some research suggests that valproic acid may even have a synergistic inhibitory effect when combined with haloperidol.
- Haloperidol, an antipsychotic, has also shown potential in inhibiting the parasite.
- Valproic acid is particularly interesting as its anti-Toxoplasma effect might be linked to its ability to inhibit calcium entry into the parasite, a critical element in the parasite's lytic cycle.

It's not the parasite that takes the medication.

Well, I think its a slippery slope. Of course, there might be more symptoms associated with the parasite in the immunocompetent, but so can a lot of conditions. For example, low sodium (hyponatremia), that can cause symptoms akin to a viral/bacterial/etc. infection.
I'd assume that most people at that point will still go to pharma to buy some meds in hope to win the fight, where there is none.
Anyway, I do have to agree about the possibility of it being the source of some chronic symptoms in your comment. I didn't make enough research on this fella to either counter or support that angle.
What I'm left wondering, however, is how much 'control' does the 'self' really have? Like, could the 'I' just be some useful catalyst that amplify a thought, rather than being the origin?
