I have to agree, i had a freind who was deeply psychotic, he was on all kinds of drugs. Now & then he would jump up & say 'i saw a demon, it's after me! Give me a gun'. It took me ages to calm him down, tell him a gun would not help, demons are bullet proof. 
He was a great guy, caring, freindly. Except for when he saw the demons. I taught him not to just ignore the demons, but to laugh at them.
I hope he got the message, at least, i never heard of him shooting anyone....
P.S he was easier to deal with than the crack head dealer who had a shotgun to my chest. THAT took a lot of careful negotiation to survive...

I do think religion presents a false world.  Especially to vulnerable children.

The world is not loving, kind, peaceful, forgiving, and then there's the judgment of those deemed not acceptable to God.

I suspect we will discover this shooter had issues from an early age.

I found it distasteful: I preferred girls.
The difference i guess, is sharing it, i talked about my feelings with my family.
They understood, it was considered a normal part of growing up i guess.

I have a 17-year-old high schooler now.  Gender discussions at school are completely normal.

The kids don't care.  They only care who's a good friend and who isn't.

Well that is what matters.
But i can understand parents getting angry when a 9 year old comes home & tells their parents there are 11 different genders, as far as i am concerned, there are only 3. Hetero, homo, and Bi.
And telling a 9 year old that they are free to express themselves is for me, a bit too early.
Young kids have enough on their minds, and filling their heads with all this stuff just confuses them.
I grew up in a time where young peeps were r*ped behind closed doors, and it was considered normal.
It is NOT normal. Let them discover for themselves, in their own time, who they want to be, but let them be childeren first.
