Jimmy Kimmel pulled from the air over false comment about Kirk murder

Absolutely.
This was a market response from the moment Kimmel said those words.
Sinclair has to cater to its shareholders and stick to their business model.
No advertisers, no joy.
Disney knows that too but they’re woke and like to go broke.

If I worked at McDonalds and wore a Burger King t-shirt whilst talking shit about McDonalds I might get fired.

It is the right of McDonalds to do so.

Where the real starting block was affiliates pulling the show to protect themselves from liable.

Which was done organically, unless anybody isn't weighing the realities enough to think Trump doesn't have enough on his plate.

Where he would call each affiliate separately and pressure them?

and have it not come out on TMZ

Trump tweeting is a damn far cry from a phone call to the FCC or ABC.

Let's not pretend that if it did happen in this climate, it would get leaked... and OMB can't afford the bad press...

So even that scenario is wishy-washy if we are going to be logical and rational

Then why was Kimmel only suspended for a few days allowed to return to the air instead of being fired.  And one Affiliate is still passing on broadcasting the Kimmel show.

Kimmel’s “speech” isn’t “free” when it’s a commodity of ABC regulated under the FCC that has to meet the standards of the ABC brand where ABC protects itself from liable and it’s stockholders.  With no guarantee it has to purchased as a commodity.

Kimmel is more than welcome to break the ties of ABC and speak his mind under his own media on his own dime.

I respectfully say, wheres the evidence?  It's possible sure but is it likely

Why cant an independent FCC ruling AS PER NORMAL be the reason

Every reporter at ABC MSNBC CNN, etc would die for the Trump told me to! story,

except all we have is speculation, innuendos, and hearsay

Who knows maybe my deny ignorance meter is broke

Not to mention the elephant in the room so did a Trump pressure for the suspension and then tell the FCC to revoke it a week later?

Generally, the more steps in a conspiracy theory and people involved, the less likely it occured at all.

Notes:
  • The exact number of ABC affiliates (31) is based on the context of the X post and Sinclair's portfolio as of September 2025. However, Sinclair's total station count exceeds 294, with many being affiliates of other networks (e.g., Fox, NBC, CBS) or operating digital subchannels.
  • Some stations listed may primarily affiliate with other networks (e.g., CBS, NBC) but carry ABC programming on digital subchannels, which Sinclair can preempt as part of its broadcast control.
  • Locations and ownership details are subject to change due to mergers, acquisitions, or regulatory shifts, especially given the ongoing FCC merger approvals mentioned in the context (e.g., Nexstar and Tegna).
For the most current and precise list, you might want to check Sinclair's official website (sbgi.net) or recent FCC filings, as my data reflects updates through September 22, 2025. Given the timing of the X post (23:15 UTC, which is 19:15 EDT), this action is likely affecting these stations' Tuesday night programming starting tonight, September 22, 2025.

Sinclair Says Kimmel Suspension is Not Enough, Calls on FCC and ABC to Take Additional Action09.17.2025
Sinclair’s ABC stations to air a special in remembrance of Charlie Kirk during Jimmy Kimmel Live timeslot on Friday
BALTIMORE – Sinclair, the nation’s largest ABC affiliate group, objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
As discussed with ABC earlier today, Sinclair decided to indefinitely preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” beginning tonight. Following these discussions, ABC has suspended production of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country,” said Vice Chairman Jason Smith. “We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities. We appreciate FCC Chairman Carr’s remarks today and this incident highlights the critical need for the FCC to take immediate regulatory action to address control held over local broadcasters by the big national networks.”
Sinclair’s ABC stations will air a special in remembrance of Charlie Kirk this Friday, during Jimmy Kimmel Live’s timeslot. The special will also air across all Sinclair stations this weekend. In addition, Sinclair is offering the special to all ABC affiliates across the country.
Sinclair will not lift the suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on our stations until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.
Sinclair also calls upon Mr. Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. Furthermore, we ask Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA.
Regardless of ABC’s plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform.

That came up a few years back, and he managed to slip out of it. Personally. I've been a fan of his since he co-hosted Win Ben Steins Money, but I think he was a radio personality in Vegas before that.

Those that are objecting to Black Face -- did you object to it when it happened?

I don't remember it being a big deal and taboo until late 20's.  Actually, as I was growing up it seemed a normal part of entertainment.

Jimmy Kimmel's performance was around 2003.  Along with many other comedians/performers.

I agree with you. He should have more on his plate to worry about than late night talk shows, but that doesn't seem to be case here.

Yeah, thats social media posts dont tell me you read and believe social media are enough for a CEO at ABC, Sinclair, or ABC, well maybe ABC haha

but the other 2 no evidence to support that conclusion it wouldn't even be brought to a grand jury

Social media posts don't equal calling the FCC, ABC or Sinclair and applying pressure

Do you know how many completely bullshit and false statements politicians post on social media
