Such is life, shades of grey indeed.

I'm genuinely sorry if you've missed out on love and friendship. Life doesn't have to be like that.
I trust, and have always trusted, many people. I don't think it's possible to live without trust. You need someone to hold a ladder for you sometimes while you get the cat down from the tree.
I've been betrayed now and then, but not really very often. And when it does happen, it isn't the end of the world. Forgiveness and understanding count for a lot.
Sartre was wrong. Hell isn't other people: Hell is solitary confinement.

Yes, and life also keep expanding us, far beyond the identity we started with. And yet, maybe we were always the same deep inside.

Wise words.
By the way, an excellent way of preparing for the worst is dealing with the merely terrible. Practical training in survival skills, if you catch my drift. Life lessons.

Just get a couple cats or something. Learn to play an instrument. Instead of eating yourself.
For crowds? Stay away from them. Or turn the tables and learn to eat the crowd if pushed.

Don't they advise one to picture people in their underwear or naked to bring them down to a more equal level? lol

I agree with you, in that, one does not have to live in loneliness, one can enjoy one's own company through more cerebral and/or artistic pursuits, which in my case, always has me ending up in a crowd.
Cats can be tricky, just saying.

Some things can be forgiven, but some things should simply be walked away from.
However, forgiving "for yourself" is healthy because it brings inner peace.
But it doesn't mean staying in a toxic situation.
You can let go and still choose distance.
