Israel hits Iranian targets
#1
An Israeli force, believed to be made up of either F-15I Ra'am and/or F-16I Sufa, hit targets around Tehran early Saturday morning. It's believed that they launched ballistic missiles over Iraq or Jordan that hit IRGC targets around the Tehran area. It appears that at least two SAM sites, an IRGC logistics center, and a research lab belonging to the IRGC Aerospace Forces were hit.  A second wave of attacks has apparently started in Shiraz, with multiple explosions being reported in the area.
Quote:DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Israel launched airstrikes early Saturday targeting what it described as military targets in Iran in retaliation for a ballistic missile assault Oct. 1, officials said. There was no immediate information on damage in the Islamic Republic.
Israel’s military described the attack as “precise strikes on military targets in Iran,” without immediately elaborating.

This is tense.

Thanks for the alert.

This war needs to end... not grow.

feels pretty limited or perhaps just the opening strike.

US stating they were told beforehand and played no part
"WASHINGTON, Oct 25 (Reuters) - The United States was notified by Israel ahead of its operation against targets in Iran, a U.S. official told Reuters on Friday, speaking on condition of anonymity. The official added there was no U.S. involvement in the Israeli operation"

Seems they hit in and around Tehran mostly and didn't include any energy/nuclear sites. But I doubt we'd know this initially.

I suspect that Israel is going to limit their targets, or spread their attack out over several waves, possibly over a couple days. Iran has said that if Israel limits what they hit, and doesn't hit specific targets they can and will ignore the attack, so we'll see what happens next.

Israeli sources are reporting over 100 aircraft were used, with F-35s, F-15s, and F-16s all being used in the strike, along with tanker assets. Videos over Jordan show what is reported to be an Israeli F-16 going over at low altitude on the way to hit targets. Reports of Israeli aircraft over Jordan, Syria, and Iraq before the targets in Iran were hit.

Sources are reporting that the attack was more robust that previous retaliations, but are avoiding key infrastructure in Iran, such as nuclear facilities and oil production facilities.

Is it possible Zach, that the Israelis are in fact hitting the leadership where they live? Cutting off the head as it were?

If that is the case, then possibly freeing the Iranian people to choose their own form of government, unlike from 1979 on?

I’m certain that the form of government will be “preordained” if you will, but hopefully this doesn’t push us all globally closer to the brink.

It's possible, but it doesn't seem likely. Satellites are showing fires well outside cities and in remote areas where Israeli missiles hit.

Middle Eastern airspace is closed. Iran and Israel obviously closed their airspace, but so has Iraq, and going by this probably Jordan as well.

TV news said that the strikes were limited and that Iran said they won't be retaliating as long as nothing 'energy' was hit.  Sound like Iran doesn't want to keep it going ...
