The problem with depression is that they treat the symptoms, not the deeper root causes.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

Trazodone, Sertraline, Flupentixol, Citalopram, Reboxetine, Vortioxetine, but to name a few. But here is the kicker, the NHS is not really set up to treat depression or other emotional stress with much other than medications. Trying to get referrals from a GP to see the likes of a specialist psychiatrist, psychologists, or cognitive therapist is like pulling teeth.

Meds can help calm the brain to make counseling more understandable. Trying to reason in panic mode does not garner positive results.

Sadly compared to other branches of medicine, they don't understand that you should wash your hands between patients yet, when dealing with mental patients. I am not sure of an equivalent but there is none. Many surgeons were against hand washing at first. Now everyone does it. I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance? Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

It's a horrible reality to watch happen. I held off on the Autistic kid til he was 13. I purposely wanted him to recognize the difference. Today he’s on just enough that it takes the edge off and makes focus easier. He has “spike days” and then I say “Go hit the trampoline”. Emotions can be like a roller coaster (he’s also a teen)— he works through those in counseling twice a week. |
