How is the Government shut-down affecting you?
#1
So, I don’t really want to get political, I just want to know how this is affecting the American people on this forum.

As a Canadian from the outside looking in, I’m just curious.

Are you all doing ok? Has it affected you personally yet?

No need to get angry about the cause, just asking.

If it’s hot, wet and sticky and it’s not yours, don’t touch it!

The only thing so far is that my 17 year olds school emailed saying that as of Monday the free lunch program will be stopped until the State of Michigan gets a budget from the closed government.

Since Covid all kids get a free lunch.
Be kind to everyone!

I think it's going to be a slow roll.

Like the farmers who are just now finding out how decisions this administration made affects them.

I think I'm more concerned about recovery.

Good thing I live in California.

But the Food Banks are affected.  There are a lot of seniors where I live.

We are on social security.
Those checks are probably going to be delayed if the shutdown lasts more than a week or two.
Other than that ... not affecting us at all.

PorkChop and I are both government contractors.

Still have to show up each day for work.

Still getting paid.

Worst shutdown ever.

Thanks Schumer.

Well, let's hold off on that 3rd comment and see if we do still get paid tomorrow lol

At least for the COVID "shutdown" I got 3 days off. When most everyone else in our plant got weeks off....

The loss of the food banks is terrible as lots of people have to rely upon them.
Thanks for replying folks, I really hope you can all get through this bs.

For each of us it is different in many ways....

the paycheck to paycheck crowd... my home turf...
cannot be confident about any magnitude of unexpected costs...
every business chain is claiming "tariffs" and gutting us daily.
(showing how business profit is so vitally important "we the citizens" have to pay their taxes.)

I can't speak of the anxiety of people entirely dependent on support systems 'authorized and controlled' by government political appointees... (by their very nature... these funds were never secure.)

I'm a stereotypical 90%er... a pittance from a lifetime of work...
